Khojat khojat mai firaa - I wandered around searching

A Beautiful Shabad from Holy Gurbani

Bilaaval, Mehla 5 :
Khojat khojat mai firaa khojau ban thaan
Achhal achhed abhed Parabh aisay Bhagvaan

Kab dekhu parabh aapnaa aatam kai rang
Jaagan tay supnaa bhalaa basi-e parabh sang

Baran aasram saastar suno darsan kee pyaas
Roop na rekh na panch tat Tahaakur Abinaas

Oh saroop Santan kahahi virlay jogeesur
Kar kirpaa jaa kau milay dhan dhan tay Eesur

So antar so baaharay binsay teh bhrmaa
Nanak tis Prabh bheteaa jaa kay puran karmaa

Meaning:

Searching and searching, I wandered around searching - in the jungles and other places.
Undeceivable, imperishable, incomprehensible - such is the Lord God.

When shall I behold my God within my soul (not just outwardly but at the soul level) and be delighted?
Better than being awake is the state of that dream in which I dwell with Almighty God.

Listening to the Shastras – the Holy scriptures - about the classes and the stages of life, I grow thirsty to have the Blessed Vision of the Lord.
Having no form or outline, nor made of the five elements - the Lord Master is eternal - immortal - imperishable.

Rare are those Saints and great Yogis who describe such a beautiful form of the Lord (as described in the previous line).
To whom the Lord meets through His own Mercy, they are Blessed.

He is within and outside as well - Knowing this, all their doubts are dispelled.
O Nanak - God meets those whose karmas are perfect.
