Does everything happen with the will of God?

Quite often we hear a popular phrase:
"Parmatma ki ichha kay Bina kuchh nahin ho saktaa"
That Nothing can happen without the will of God.

However, it's a wrong concept - the true quote is......
"Parmatma kay bina kuchh nahin ho saktaa"
"Nothing can happen without God"

Another popular phrase:
"Parmaatma ki ichha kay ek Bina pataa bhi nahin hil saktaa"
"Nothing - not even a leaf, can move without the will of God"

But the actual phrase is:
"Nothing - not even a leaf, can move without God"

I don't know when and how the word "will of God" got added to these phrases.

"What is the difference?" One may ask.

There is a big difference.
And that is what creates confusion in our minds.

By saying "will of God", not only do we imply that God has 'desires', but preferences as well.
It means God is not impartial and just -
that He favors or disfavors certain people - creates and destroys - provides or takes away according to His will and preferences.

If nothing can happen without the "will of God" then why do 'sin and evil' exist in the world?
It means that all the bad things; killings and hatred etc. are happening with the "will of God". Because He desires so?

However, when we say "nothing can move without God" - has a different meaning altogether.
It makes perfect sense and it is perfectly scientific.

Every gadget and appliance in our homes run on electricity.
We see the appliances working but do not see the energy behind them.
For example, we only see the light bulb shining, not the electricity flowing through it - because the light bulb is physical and electricity is Formless.
We don't see the electricity, yet we know that the bulb cannot shine without the electricity.

Now, can we say that the bulb cannot shine without the 'will of electricity"?

We don't see electricity shining, heating or cooling, or even flowing - but none of the household appliances can work without it.
And without a doubt, we know it's the 'electricity'- not the 'will of electricity' that makes the appliances move or work.
Electricity simply provides energy. Shining, heating, or cooling depends on the design and programming of the gadget, not on the will of electricity.

Similarly, God is 'Nirankaar, 'Nirgun' (Formless and attribute-less) - the 'Basic source of energy behind everything.
Nothing can move or work without God.
But Love or hatred, kindness or cruelty, generosity or selfishness, helping and saving or torturing and killing, etc, depends on the individuals, not on the so-called 'will of God'.

  5. Thanks Ji for clarifying about free will and Karma. Also, I believe in God being impartial and just; that He does not favor one over another.
But some things that happen cannot be fathomed.
If Karma were the sole criterion, then many of us would not qualify receiving Gyan - I’m sure I would not.
Merciful God must have forgiven my misgivings, and given me this chance to redeem myself by putting me in touch with the true Satguru.
Furthermore, He must have put my mind in a receptive state to receive and understand this Gyan.
Why He chose to do so for me is beyond what my rational mind can comprehend!

    1. Dhan nirankar ji,as per my understanding, some of the karmas are sanchit karma that may have been accumulated with previous birth which we might not have any memories!! Some karmas give instant results some take time/ages/births!! It is definitely our karmas that brought us closer to satguru!! Many in the world are not so lucky!!

  7. Well explained Rajan Jee .. this is yet another enlightenment. Still the big confusion remains at least for me. If everything is in accordance with will of God or now what we are saying that nothing can move/happen without God, how God allows us to make sin, cruelty, hatred in his presence? In last line it has been clarified that it depends on the individuals. Kindly enlighten if Karma can't be stopped and an individual has to bear the outcome even when we say nothing can move without God?

  9. Laws of universe is the intelligence of God.
God is only Karma phala data gives results according to your karma. He is impartial and does not have likes and dislikes
