Neer barsaa kabhi - kabhi dharti jalee 

Kabhi patjhad kabhi rut basanti khilee 

                     Ritu aati rahee - aur badalti rahee 

                     Chakr chaltaa rahaa - umr dhalti rahee !! 

Kabhi hanstay rahay - kabhi rotay rahay

Kabhi jaagaa kiye - kabhi sotay rahay

                  Dil dhadktaa rahaa - saans chalti rahee

                  Vaqt katataa rahaa - umr dhalti rahee !! 

Kuchh kitaaben padhin, gyan charcha suni 

Kuchh nij-dhaarnaon kee chaadar buni 

                 Koyi mitati rahee koyi banti rahee

                Gyan miltaa rahaa - umr dhalti rahee !! 

Main tasveer apni banaataa rahaa 

Aaeena kuchh aur hee dikhaataa rahaa 

               Pratishthaa ki ichchha panaptee rahee 

              Aham badhtaa rahaa - umr dhalti rahee !! 

Nazar ghatnay lagi - baal paknay lagay 

Jism thaknay lagaa, daant girnay lagay

             Kaamnaa phir bhi man mein machalti rahee 

             Chitt chaltaa rahaa - umr dhalti rahee !! 

Khoyaa hai kyaa - ham nay paaya hai kyaa 

Kyaa todaa hai 'Rajan' banaayaa hai kyaa

            Ye chintaa hameshaa hee khalti rahee 

            Man udtaa rahaa - umr dhalatee rahee !!

                        Journey of Life 

Sometimes there was rain - sometimes burning hot 

It was autumn sometimes  - and sometimes spring

         Seasons kept on coming and going

         This cycle of seasons continued -  

                        While the age kept on going down !!* (advancing)

    

Sometimes laughing - and crying sometimes

Sometimes awake -  sleeping sometimes

             Heart kept beating - breathing continued

             Time kept on passing -  

                        While the age kept on going down !!

Read some books - heard some discourses

Woven a cover of some own convictions 

          Old beliefs disappeared - New dogmas embraced

          Gathered more knowledge - 

                        While the age kept on going down !!

Created an image of myself - 

But the mirror kept showing something else

             The desire for prestige kept growing

             Ego kept on rising

                        While the age kept on going down !!

Loss of sight - hair falling off 

Body feeling exhausted - teeth began to fall

           But the hopes and desires - Still gleaming in the heart

           The mind kept on racing - 

                        While the age kept on going down !!

What have we lost - what have we attained

What have we ruined - what have we gained

        This apprehension has always been a concern

        The mind kept flying all over - 

                        While the age kept on going down !!

*In a way - the age going down or advancing is the same thing. 

It simply depends on how you think. 

The age keeps on increasing as we grow older -

but at the same time, we keep getting closer to the end.

So, in other words - the age is decreasing 

It's going down - not up.
