ਵਿਚਾਰਸ਼ੀਲ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ

ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਭ੍ਰਿਤਰੀਹਰਿ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ 
ਵਿਚਾਰਸ਼ੀਲ ਬੁੱਧੀਜੀਵੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਵੀ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੀ ਦੋ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਹੈ। 

ਜਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਗਲੇ ਦਾ ਹਾਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ -
ਯਾਨੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦੇ ਜਾਂ ਮੁਖੀ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਸਤਿਕਾਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ 

ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ 
ਜੰਗਲ ਦੇ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਇਕਾਂਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਬਤੀਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

The Speck Of Dust

The dust once thought that if she could ever fly she would never come back to earth.
So, she prayed and meditated and chanted 
and did all that was in her power to make the Gods fulfill her desire.

And the Gods did listen.
The wind blew with such power
that it took the dust over the trees - 
over the mountains, into the sky.
She traveled everywhere.

She felt she fulfilled her destiny.
The magic played on for some time.
But now..she wanted to return back n rest.
Enough of this travel, enough of this sense of reaching somewhere.
Being this enlightened, self-awakened dust particle, higher than the rest !

She wanted to be dust again.
She wanted to be  --  just be.
And she cried from the deepest core of her heart.
She cried till the Gods sent her back.

There back on earth, she rested like never before.
She realized she was always this.
Always perfectly herself 
but all that journey to the sky and beyond -
was perhaps only to make her see so.

And how she smiled then..looking at the sky.

It was amazing.
All her knowledge had dropped.
All desires had dropped.
She was once again - Nothing.

But within that nothingness
there was this amazing Grace -
The Grace of Being.

And she settled. 
She finally settled as she was.
No seeking, no searching...
Just being - AS IS.

And then the winds smiled,
the seeds dropped,
the sun shone,
the rains showered
and flowers sprouted.
The dust had dissolved.
She was no more.

She had become All.

Jo tu kehtaa hai ae gaafil ye meraa hai ye teraa hai 
Ye jis ka hai usee ka hai - na teraa hai na meraa hai 

Tu avval soch to dil mein ki tu hai kaun aur kya hai 
Namaazi hai sharaabi hai - uchakkaa hai luteraa hai? 

Farishta hai - pari hai - dev hai - ya aadami - jinn hai 
Balaa hai - bhoot hai - yaamun mazooraa ya kameeraa hai 

Jab in cheezon say tu apni tayeen kuchh cheez thehraa lay 
To us kay baad phir kahiyo ye mera hai ye tera hai 

Ye cheezen to garaz kya hain tu apnaa hee nahin maalik 
Tujhay O' be-khabar naadaan - ye kis gafalat nay gheraa hai

Tu kachay soot ka dhaagaa abas bal paich khaata hai 
Ye sab veham-e-galat hai aur qusoor-e-feham tera hai 

Tu kya jaanay ki tujh ko kis nay kis charkhay mein kaata hai

Tamaasha hai mazaa hai sair hai kya kya aha haaha

बला है - भूत है - यामुन मज़ूरा या कमीरा है

जब इन चीज़ों से तू अपने तईं कुछ चीज़ ठहरा ले
तो उस के बा'द फिर कहियो ये मेरा है ये तेरा है

ये चीज़ें तो ग़रज़ क्या हैं तू अपना ही नहीं मालिक
तुझे ओ बे-ख़बर नादाँ ये किस ग़फ़लत ने घेरा है

तू कच्चे सूत का धागा अबस बल पेच खाता है
ये सब वहम-ए-ग़लत है और क़ुसूर-ए-फ़हम तेरा है

तू क्या जाने कि तुझ को किस ने किस चर्ख़े में काता है
तू क्या जाने कि तुझ को किस अटेरन में अचेरा है

तमाशा है मज़ा है सैर है क्या क्या अहा हाहा
मुसव्विर ने अजब कुछ रंग क़ुदरत का बिखेरा है

तरक़्क़ी में तनज़्ज़ुल है तनज़्ज़ुल में तरक़्क़ी है
अँधेरे में उजाला है  - उजाले में अँधेरा है

तिलिस्मात-ए-हक़ीक़ी है ये कुछ समझा नहीं जाता
यही चाँद और यही सूरज यही शाम और सवेरा है

Happy Republican Day (India) - Vanday Mataram

      Happy Indian Republican Day and Vanday Mataram

It is vital to remember and retain our roots and heritage. 
Any community which forgets its roots - its language and culture - eventually ceases to exist. 
One should always feel pride - not arrogance but dignity - for their heritage and motherland - along with respect for everyone else's heritage as well.   

                    Vanday Mataram - 
was written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1870 and sung by Rabindranath Tagore in the 1896 session of the Indian National Congress. It was selected as the National Song of India by the Constituent Assembly on January 24, 1950.

The song shares the same status as the National Anthem (Jana Gana Mana) - except for some official dictates.
However, this was the most popular song at the time - when India was fighting for independence.

The phrase ‘Vande Mataram’ was the mantra of Indian revolutionaries and nationalist leaders during the country’s struggle for freedom. It became the war cry for Indian nationalists against the British Raj to attain freedom for the Motherland.

Such was the power of this phrase that It quickly spread throughout India and was on the lips of millions. It enthused numerous young men and women who fell into the patriotic sentiments of the time, dedicating their spirits to the service of their Motherland.

Revolutionary turned Spiritualist Aurobindo Ghosh rendered the English translation titled ‘I bow to thee, Mother’.

The Indian National Congress made it mandatory to sing Vande Mataram in every session across the country after 1915.
However, considering the sentiments of a few religious groups who opposed the word Maatram (Mother) - it was adopted as the National song - and Jan Gan Man as the National Anthem.

Nevertheless, this is a beautiful composition recognized as the greatest and most enduring gift of the Swadeshi movement.

Vande Mataram ranked as the second most popular song in the world - through a poll conducted by BBC World Services in 2002.

ईर्ष्या से छुटकारा कैसे पाएं

ईर्ष्या से छुटकारा पाने के लिए सबसे पहले, हमें इसका कारण खोजना होगा।
ईर्ष्या क्यों होती है ?
हम किस से - और क्यों ईर्ष्या करते हैं ?

                     ईर्ष्या का मूल कारण स्वामित्व की भावना है।

जब हम देखते हैं कि जो हम चाहते हैं वो दूसरों के पास है
जो हमारे पास होना चाहिए वो औरों के पास है - तो हमें उनसे ईर्ष्या होने लगती है।
हम ईर्ष्यालु हो जाते हैं।

जब हम कुछ विशिष्ट प्रतिभा वाले लोगों को देखते हैं - ऐसी प्रतिभा जो हमारे पास नहीं है -
जब हम  देखते हैं कि जो हम करना चाहते हैं - वो दूसरे लोग कर रहे हैं -
जिसका श्रेय हम लेना चाहते हैं, वो दूसरे ले रहे हैं -
तो हमें उनसे ईर्ष्या होने लगती है। 

जब किसी की प्रशंसा - किसी की तारीफ़ हो रही हो तो हमें जलन होती है -
क्योंकि हम चाहते हैं कि लोग हमारी प्रशंसा करें।
हम नहीं चाहते कि कोई और व्यक्ति आकर्षण का केंद्र बने - 
हम नहीं चाहते कि लोगों का ध्यान किसी और व्यक्ति की तरफ हो और उस की तारीफ़ हमसे ज्यादा हो। 

सच तो यह है कि असल में हम जानते हैं कि वो गुण - वो प्रतिभा हमारे पास नहीं है - 
और चाहते हैं कि वो गुण हमारे पास भी हों। 

या फिर हम सोचते हैं कि हमारे पास भी वो गुण तो हैं लेकिन हमें अपनी प्रतिभा दिखाने का कोई मौका - कोई अवसर नहीं मिला। 
जो अवसर - जो मौके उन्हें मिले या मिलते हैं - वो हमें मिलने चाहिएं। 
अर्थात - जो कुछ भी औरों के पास है उस सब का स्वामी हमें होना चाहिए। 

ईर्ष्या से मुक्त होने के लिए इस स्वामित्व की भावना से मुक्त होना पड़ेगा।
क्योंकि स्वामित्व की भावना मन में असुरक्षा पैदा करती है - जो नहीं है उसे पाने की इच्छा और जो है उसे खोने का डर। 
चाहे वह कोई वस्तु हो या कोई पद - या अन्य लोगों पर हमारा अधिकार और उन पर नियंत्रण और कंट्रोल - अगर नहीं है तो पाने की इच्छा और अगर है तो उसे खोने का डर - दोनों हालतों में हम अपने आप को असुरक्षित महसूस करने लगते हैं 
और जिनके पास है उन से ईर्ष्या करने लगते हैं। 

लेकिन सच्चे ज्ञानी किसी भी प्रकार की स्वामित्व की भावना से मुक्त होते हैं -
और इसलिए वो ईर्ष्या से भी मुक्त होते हैं। 
वे जानते हैं कि संसार की हर वस्तु और परिस्थिति परिवर्तन के नियम के अधीन है। 
वे जानते हैं कि सब कुछ क्षण भंगुर है - बदल जाने वाला है।  

इसलिए, वे न तो किसी चीज को पकड़ कर रखते हैं और न ही किसी व्यक्ति विशेष अथवा लोगों को। 
उनके मन में किसी वस्तु - किसी परिस्थिति और अन्य लोगों पर स्वामित्व का भाव नहीं होता - 
उन पर अधिकार एवं नियंत्रण - उन पर अपना कण्ट्रोल रखने की भावना नहीं होती और इसलिए वे ईर्ष्या से मुक्त रहते हैं।

How to get rid of Jealousy

To get rid of jealousy - first, we have to find the cause of it.
What makes us jealous?

The root cause of jealousy is possessiveness.
When we see that others have what we want to possess, we become jealous.

When we see people with specific talents that we would like to have - others doing and achieving what we would like to get credit for, we become jealous.

When we see someone being praised and admired, we become jealous - because we want people to praise us.
We do not want anyone else to get more attention and admiration than us.

The fact is that deep down in our hearts, we want to possess what others have, and we don't.

To be free of jealousy, one has to be free from the feeling of possessiveness and ownership.
The sense of ownership creates a feeling of insecurity - a fear of losing what we have. May it be things, objects, positions, or people and our authority and control over them.

The true Gyanis or Enlightened ones are free of jealousy because they are free of possessiveness.

They know that everything in the world is subject to change.
Therefore, they do not hold on or cling to anything - neither objects nor people.

They do not carry a sense of ownership of anything or anyone - 
and therefore, they remain free of jealousy.

Where to speak - and where not to speak
Where there should be silence, the mouth is opened.

When the head of a soldier is cut, we remain silent
When a scene of a picture is cut, everyone starts shouting.

These children of new breeds listen to the whole world
But if the parents say something, they start shouting back.

We let our pockets lose in high standard fancy shops
But if a worker, maid, or servant asks, we start counting the coins. 

No one says anything if velvet (rich & influential - wearing expensive clothes) makes a mistake
If it is the fault of a torn sheet (poor) - everyone shouts and complains.

We often try to make relationships with everyone we meet.

ये शोला ख़ुद भड़क उठता है भड़काया नहीं जाता

Happiness and Contentment

All our life, we keep chasing after things we like but don't have - such as money, status, power, happiness, etc. 
It's not hard to understand that people who don't have enough to live comfortably are unhappy.
But those who have everything or more than they need - don't seem to be very happy either.

Is happiness merely a delusion?
Just a concept to imagine?

It depends on how we define happiness. 
If it means to achieve the things we like or we don't have, then we may never find happiness.
Because every time we get what we want, there will be another desire to obtain something else.
Never, there will be a time when we would feel that we have enough to be happy-ever-after.

Therefore, the wise talk about contentment. 
We are told to be content with whatever little we might have, and we will be happy. 

We often hear this phrase: You cannot buy happiness with money.
But on the other hand, no one can achieve happiness with poverty either.
Everyone needs to meet the basic necessities to be able to survive in the physical world.
Without proper food, shelter, and essential medical help, no one can stay happy for long.
If riches cannot provide happiness, then neither can poverty.

Perhaps the solution lies somewhere in the middle. 
While the poor are always struggling to meet both ends' meals - the rich are busy trying to find different ways to be happy - to find pleasure through entertainment and traveling, etc. - and continually thinking of ways to extend their wealth and power and how to save it.
Neither rich nor poor have time to relax and try to find the real purpose of life - to find Truth.
Neither of them has time to unwind and try to find the real purpose of life - to find Truth.

No one appears to be truly happy.
Being content seems to be the only way to become happy.

But at the same time, no one can become content if their basic needs of food and shelter are not met.
Even the Saints, religious leaders, Dharm-pracharaks, and Gurus also want to secure their wellbeing and the future requirements of their families - and there is nothing wrong with it.

Therefore, instead of saying: Money cannot buy happiness - It should be understood as:
Neither riches nor poverty can bestow happiness.
We may find happiness by having - not a little - but enough to meet our needs and being content with it.

There is a beautiful Doha (Hindi couplet) perhaps by Satguru Kabeer ji:
                Saayeen itnaa deejiye - jaamay kutumb smaaye 
                Main bhi bhookha na rahoon aur saadh na bhookha jaye
O' Lord, please grant me enough to meet my household requirements
 - 
That we may not stay hungry, nor the guests should go hungry from my home.

Pandit Birju Maharaj - A Tribute

Yesterday, We lost another great artist of Indian classical music and dance - Pandit Birju Maharaj.

Brijmohan Nath Mishra-  simply known as Birju Maharaj was a leading exponent and torch-bearer of one of the most difficult classical dances of India, known as Kathak.
His constant efforts took Kathak to a whole new level - and made people take note of and respect this dance form - not only in India but in western countries as well.
He is known as the Father of Kathak dance - because, without him, the art of Kathak dance might have died and disappeared. 

I had the privilege of meeting this great artist at the house of Shrimati Ashoka Rao - a student of Pandit Lachu Maharaj and Arjun Mishra (an uncle and student of Birju Maharaj, respectively) who teaches Kathak dance in a wider Michigan area. 
After spending a day with Pandit ji, I found him not only a great artist but a great human being as well - he was very simple and humble - very friendly, and loving. 
During dinner, Ashoka ji told me that Pandit ji refused to stay at a hotel and wanted to stay at their home. He preferred simple home-cooked meals and a family environment over a five-star hotel and fancy restaurant food. 

Pandit Birju Maharaj was not only a dancer. He was also a sensitive poet and captivating orator - and an excellent singer of Thumri, Dadra, and Bhajans. 
He gave his first dance performance at the age of seven, and at the age of thirteen, he was invited to Delhi to teach Kathak at Sangeet Bharati. 
He won several honors and awards, including the Prestigious Padma Vibhushan (1986).
Known for his facial expressions - fast and nimble artistic feet movements - Pandit Birju Maharaj is considered the epitome of Kathak.
He will be greatly missed in the circles of Indian classical music and dances.

Those who dive deep in the ocean - find the treasures.
I also went searching for the pearls - 
but foolishly stayed sitting on the edge of the shore. 

We have been walking the ocean's edge for long - 
holding up our robes of ego to keep them dry and unwrinkled - 
holding on to our armors of prestige and ego. 

If we want the real treasure - then we must dive deeper
And naked - free from the heavy armors that we carry around -
Armors of a false sense of prestige, distinction, power, and ego.

सुखी एवं संतुष्ट जीवन के निर्माण के लिए

एक डॉक्टर या सर्जन बीमारी को दूर करने के लिए शरीर के किसी हिस्से में बढ़ते हुए अल्सर को काट कर निकाल देता है।

एक इमारत को पुनर्स्थापित करने के लिए पुरानी इमारत के जर्जर हिस्सों को गिरा कर उन्हें नए समकालीन डिजाईन के साथ बदल दिया जाता है।

पेड़-पौधे पुराने सूखे पत्तों को गिरने देते हैं - झाड़ देते हैं और वसंत रितु में उन पर नए पत्ते आ जाते हैं ।

इसी प्रकार एक नए - सुखी एवं संतुष्ट जीवन का निर्माण करने के लिए -
हमें पुराने दकियानूसी विचारों को छोड़ कर उन्हें नए उपयोगी और प्रैक्टिकल विचारों से बदलना होगा। 
बदलते हुए समय के साथ पुराने संकीर्ण और अनुपयोगी विचारों को भी बदलने की ज़रुरत है।

To Build a New Satisfying Life

A surgeon must cut open and remove an ulcer to heal the body.
To restore a building, we must tear down some old crumbling parts of the old building and replace them with new contemporary layouts.
A tree must let go of the old dying leaves - and grow new ones in the spring. 

Similarly, to build a new happy, satisfying life - 
we must tear down the old obsolete ideas and replace them with new fresh ideas. 
With changing times - a change of the old, narrow, and useless ideas is also required to attain a balanced life.

शिकवा-ए-ज़ुल्मत -ए-शब

शिकवा-ए-ज़ुल्मत -ए-शब से तो कहीं बेहतर था
अपने हिस्से की एक शम्मा जला दी होती
                                                  (अज्ञात )

अपने आस पास होने वाले ज़ुल्म और अँधेरे को कोसने की बजाय -
अच्छा होता अगर आप अपनी तरफ से - अपने हिस्से का एक छोटा सा दीपक ही जला देते

अपने आस-पास होने वाली हर दुर्घटना - हर बुराई के लिए दूसरों को दोष देना बहुत  आसान है।
हम आमतौर पर किसी एक व्यक्ति या किसी एक समुदाय को चुन लेते हैं - 
और जब भी कुछ गलत होता है, तो हम उन्हें दोष देना शुरु कर देते हैं। 
और आजकल का सोशल मीडिया - कोई समाधान - कोई हल खोजने में मदद करने की बजाय, उस में और ईंधन डालने का काम कर रहा है - नफरत की आग को और अधिक प्रज्वलित करने - और बढ़ाने में मदद कर रहा है।

चाहे कोई भी धार्मिक, सांस्कृतिक या राजनीतिक समुदाय हो, उसकी असलीयत एवं तथ्यों को खोजना मुश्किल नहीं है
सुनी सुनाई बातों पर भरोसा करने के बजाय निष्पक्ष और प्रामाणिक जानकारी प्राप्त करके तर्क और सामान्य एवं व्यवहारिक ज्ञान का उपयोग करके सच्चाई को जाना जा सकता है।  

हर बात को ठंडे दिल से और जिम्मेदारी से सोचना चाहिए और समस्या का नहीं - बल्कि समाधान का हिस्सा बनने का प्रयास करना चाहिए। 
अगर और कुछ नहीं - तो कम से कम गलत जानकारी फैलाकर - नफरत की आग में और ज्यादा ईंधन डाल कर इसे बढ़ावा देने में तो मदद न करें ।

Instead of cursing the atrocities and darkness around you - 
it would have been better if you had lighted even one small candle from your side - as your share. 

It's easy to blame others for every bad thing that happens around us.
We usually pick a person or a group, and whenever something goes wrong, we start blaming or accusing them. And social media - instead of helping to find a solution, adds more fuel to it. 

May it be religious, cultural, or political, it's easy to find the facts - using logic and genuine - unbiased, authentic information rather than relying on heresy. 

Everyone should think responsibly and try to be a part of the solution and not of the problem. 
Or at least, not add more fuel by spreading wrong information.

We might think we are Enlightened Beings

We might think that we are Enlightened beings and free from the clutches of enchanting glamours and temptations of the materialistic world. 
While in fact, we are like tiny pieces of iron resisting the most enormous magnet called Maya.

The degree may vary, but more or less - everyone gets pulled into the magnetic realms of Maya at one point or the other. 
We live in an enchanting world in a physical form - there is hardly any escape.

Are we Free or Prisoners?

We might think that we are free. 
But if we analyze ourselves closely and objectively, we may find that we might be prisoners after all. 
Prisoners of our desires and attachments.

We all have desires. 
Everyone has some desires.
It's part of human nature. 
And there is nothing wrong with having desires.

But sometimes, we become attached to certain desires.
We continually keep thinking about them over and over again and desperately wanting to get it. 
We become prisoners of those specific desires - and constantly keep thinking of finding ways to fulfill them.
If they are not fulfilled, we become unhappy - sad, angry, and even depressed.

And if we get what we want, we temporarily become happy.
It boosts our ego.
But soon, it loses its charm, and we start looking for something else and become prisoners of another desire.

       We also become attached to what we have - to our possessions.

We may have been fine when we did not have certain things - like diamonds, a big bungalow, or a large estate. 
But if we lose it after having it for some time, it becomes painful. 
We constantly keep thinking about it and keep on suffering. 
We feel like a loser and become a prisoner of those depressing thoughts. 

               We also become prisoners of certain beliefs.

It’s good to have some beliefs - but it’s not good to become their prisoners. 
If we do, then we cannot see beyond the boundaries of those beliefs. 
Our vision becomes very limited. 
It diminishes our ability to analyze and accept other theories and beliefs.
Truth cannot be realized by a closed mind with a limited vision.

Rabindra Nath Tagore, a receiver of the Nobel Prize, once said that we try to build walls of certain beliefs around ourselves for protection. However, sometimes those walls become so high that we become prisoners within them and cannot see anything beyond those walls.

Bhagvad Gita says:  
Attachments are the root cause of all sufferings.
Attachment is a great invisible binding force - 
and freedom from it means happiness and Moksha.
Freedom - not from desires and possessions, but free from being attached to them. 
Free from being a prisoner to certain distinctive concepts and beliefs and being open to other - new ideas - new horizons.

Hai koyi jag mein aisa 
Jis mein koyi kamee nahin hai ? 

Har bashar mein hoti hai

kisi mein zyaada - kisi mein thodi 
Chhoti see bhool - ya koyi sanjeedaa 
kaheen pay zaahir - kaheen posheedaa

Jahaan mein aisa kaun bashar hai 
jis mein koyi kamee nahin hai ?
Jo lagtaa hai paak pavitra - 
bus us men abhi - dikhee nahin hai 

Kabhi kuchh hasraten - 
baaton baaton mein ho jaati hain bayaan 
ya kabhi kirdaar mein kuchh ho jaati hain ayaan  (Revealed)
aur kuchh reh jaati hain 
dabee dabee see - zehan mein hee pinhaan   (Concealed)

Achhay buray har ik kaam ko 
Neki badee kay har khyaal ko 
Chhupi ya zaahir - har ik baat ko 
Har banday kee har harqat ko 
har ik rug ko - 
Vo pehchaantaa hai - 
kis kay dil mein kya chhupaa hai -
Vo sab jaantaa hai 

Magar jaan kar bhee 
Chup rehtaa hai

Zaraa sochen -- 
ki agar Vo chup hai
to ham kyon boltay hain ?
Apnay taraazoo mein

है कोई जग में ऐसा 
जिस में कोई कमी नहीं है ?

हर बशर में होती है
कोई न कोई ख़ामी - कोई कमज़ोरी
किसी में ज़्यादा - किसी में थोड़ी
छोटी सी भूल - या कोई संजीदा
कहीं पे ज़ाहिर - कहीं पोशीदा

जहाँ में ऐसा कौन बशर है  
जिस में कोई कमी नहीं है
जो लगता है पाक पवित्र -
बस उसमें अभी - दिखी नहीं है

कभी कुछ हसरतें -
बातों बातों में हो जाती हैं बयां
या कभी किरदार में कुछ हो जाती हैं अयां
और कुछ रह जाती हैं
दबी दबी सी - ज़हन में ही पिन्हां

सब  की ज़िंदगी में कुछ वाक़यात
हर इक के ज़हन में कुछ तसव्वुरात 
ऐसे होते हैं -
जिस पर किसी न किसी को तो ऐतराज़ होगा
कोई नुक्ताचीं होगा - कोई नाराज़ होगा

कुछ ऐसी बातें - कोई ऐसी हरकत 
जिसे हम समझते हैं वाजिब नहीं है
नाक़िद निगाहों से देखें अगर 
तो दुनिया में कोई भी सादिक़ नहीं है

हक़ीक़त तो ये है कि
जिस से मोहब्बत हो -
उसकी हर कमज़ोरी हो जाती है नज़रअंदाज़
और जो किसी वजह से अच्छा न लगे
उसकी हर बात पे होता है - ऐतराज़

अक्सर हम ये कहते हैं
कि कौन - कहां, कब, क्या करता है -
ये रब जानता है -
क्यों करता है ?
किस इच्छा से - किस लालच से ?
वो सब जानता है
मगर वो जानते हुए भी चुप रहता है

अच्छे बुरे हर इक काम को
नेकी बदी के हर ख़्याल को
छुपी या ज़ाहिर - हर इक बात को
हर बंदे की हर हरक़त को
हर इक रग को -
वो पहचानता है -
किस के दिल में क्या छुपा है -
वो सब जानता है
मगर जान कर भी चुप रहता है
कुछ नहीं कहता

ज़रा सोचें --
कि अगर वो चुप है
तो हम क्यों बोलते हैं ?
क्यों अपने तराज़ू में
सब को तोलते हैं ?

अगर तुम्हें भी रब से प्यार है
अगर उसका रहम-ओ-करम दरकार है
तो जब भी किसी में कोई ख़ामी नज़र आए
तो रब की तरह ही
चुप रहना - कुछ न कहना

सहनशीलता और विशालता
यही तो सब ग्रंथों का सार है
