स्वतंत्र मन वह है जो नए विचारों और प्रमाणिक सिद्धांतों के लिए हमेशा खुला रहता है  - 

उन्हें स्वीकार करने के लिए तैयार रहता है। 

जो पुराने एवं रुढ़िवादी विचारों और धारणाओं से बंधा नहीं रहता - 

बल्कि हर बात को तर्क और तथ्य के आधार पर तौल कर सत्य को जानने का प्रयास करता है।

No happiness without Contentment- Bin Santosh Na Kam Nasahin- Bin Santokh nahin ko Rajai

           Binu Santosh na kaam nasaahin

           Kaam achhat sukh sapanehun naahin 

           Ram bhajan binu mitahin ke kaamaa

           Thal biheen taru kabahun ke jaamaa?

Meaning: 

Without contentment, there is no end to desires.

And as long as desires & lust remain, one cannot find happiness even in dreams.

How can desires be ended without meditation - without worship of Ram - the Almighty God?

Can a tree grow anywhere without soil?

If there is no contentment - a feeling of satisfaction and fulfillment in the mind - then new desires will keep taking birth at every moment - the craving and greed to achieve more and more will never end.

Tulsidas ji says that a tree needs to be rooted in the ground to grow and remain stable.

Similarly, to obtain satisfaction and contentment - the mind also needs a solid ground - a strong foundation. 

And that solid base and foundation is meditation and remembrance of God.

Without meditation and worship of God, cravings do not go away, and a feeling of contentment does not arise in the mind.

The more we concentrate on remembering God, the more satisfaction and feelings of fulfillment will increase in our minds.

Gurbani also gives the same message:

"Bina Santokh nahin kou Raajai - Supan manorath birthay sab kaajai

   Naam Rang Sarab Sukh hoye - Badbhaagi kisai prapati hoy"

                                                    (Sukhmani Sahib)

Meaning: there can never be fulfillment and happiness without contentment.

And contentment and happiness can only be achieved with the Naam - by meditating upon God's name.

बिनु संतोष न काम नसाहीं -- बिना संतोख नहीं कोउ राजै

               बिनु संतोष न काम नसाहीं। 

               काम अछत सुख सपनेहुँ नाहीं॥

               राम भजन बिनु मिटहिं कि कामा। 

               थल बिहीन तरु कबहुँ कि जामा॥

                                 राम चरित मानस 

अर्थात:  संतोष के बिना कामनाओं का नाश नहीं होता। 

और कामनाओं के रहते स्वप्न में भी सुख नहीं मिल  सकता। 

क्या राम अर्थात परमेश्वर के ध्यान एवं भजन के बिना कामनाएँ मिट सकतीं हैं?

 - क्या बिना धरती के भी कहीं पेड़ उग सकता है?

यदि मन में संतोष न हो तो हर क्षण नई नई कामनाएं जन्म लेती रहती हैं - 

और अधिक से अधिक प्राप्त करने की लालसा और लोभ कभी समाप्त नहीं होता।  

तुलसीदास जी कहते हैं कि जैसे एक पेड़ को उगने और स्थिर रहने के लिए धरती का आधार चाहिए 

उसी तरह मन में संतोष लाने के लिए हमें भी किसी आधार की ज़रुरत पड़ती है 

और वो आधार है प्रभु का ध्यान और सुमिरन। 

परमेश्वर के ध्यान एवं भजन के बिना कामनाएँ नहीं मिटतीं और मन में संतोष का भाव पैदा नहीं होता। 

प्रभु सुमिरन में जितना अधिक ध्यान लगेगा - मन में उतना ही संतोष बढ़ता चला जाएगा। 

गुरबाणी भी यही संदेश देती है :

" बिना संतोख नहीं कोउ राजै  - सुपन मनोरथ बिरथे सब काजै

   नाम रंग सरब सुख होय - बड़भागी किसै परापति होय "

                                                   (सुखमनी साहिब)

अर्थात संतोष के बिना कभी तृप्ति नहीं हो सकती 

और नाम के रंग से ही मन में संतोष एवं सुख प्राप्त हो सकता है। 

और ये नाम का रंग सौभाग्य से ही प्राप्त होता है।

Everyone can hear the words of mouth

But who understands the pain that is hidden in the heart?

Who can identify and apprehend silence in the market of noises?

For centuries, the same spectacle - the same path, and the long searches

And finally, when we meet - who is the one who gets lost again?

Is he my shadow - or am I his mirror?

Who is he that lives in my house and looks just like me?

How Astonishing

How astonishing it is  -

Mahatma Buddha abandoned his palaces, luxuries, and opulence 

                    in search of peace...

And we are sacrificing our peace 

                                in search of palaces and luxury..!!

कितने आश्चर्य की बात है ....

कितने आश्चर्य की बात है कि  --

महात्मा बुद्ध ने शांति की तलाश में महल और ऐश्वर्य का त्याग कर दिया ...

और हम ........

               महलों और ऐश्वर्य की तलाश में 

                                    शांति का त्याग कर रहे हैं .. !!

जग के भोग-विलास

          जग के भोग-विलास तो अल्पविराम हैं 

          संतोष और आभार ही पूर्णविराम हैं 

किसी वाक्य में अल्पविराम का अर्थ होता है एक छोटा सा विराम 

और विराम के बाद वह वाक्य जारी रहता है।

जबकि पूर्ण विराम का अर्थ उस वाक्य का अंत होता है।

जग के भोग विलास अल्पविराम की तरह हैं 

जिनसे अल्पकारिक प्रसन्नता तो मिलती है लेकिन कुछ देर के बाद फिर वही अशांति - 

मन में फिर वही रिक्तता महसूस होने लगती है - 

तथा कुछ और नया पाने की इच्छा जागृत हो जाती है। 

संतुष्टि और कृतज्ञता की भावनाओं से ही जीवन में दीर्घकालिक शांति आ सकती है  -

केवल सांसारिक सुख-सुविधाओं से नहीं।

अल्पविराम      =  Comma

पूर्णविराम        =  Full Stop, Period

The worldly Pleasures

          Jag kay Bhog-Vilaas to Alp-Viraam hain 

          Santosh aur Aabhaar hee Poorn-Viraam hain 

Alp-Viraam         = Comma

Poorn- Viraam   = Full Stop, Period

The worldly pleasures are like commas,

Contentment and Gratitude are the full stop

                          ~~~~~~~~~~~

A comma means a small pause in a sentence - 

and the sentence continues after the pause.

Whereas a full stop or a period means the end of that sentence.

The pleasures of the world are like commas.

Though they can provide short-term happiness 

But then, the same restlessness - the same feeling of emptiness comes back - 

and again - the urge to get some more or something new awakens. 

Only gratitude and Contentment can bring long-lasting Peace - 

Not worldly joys and pleasures.

Purpose of Gyana is to Experience the Truth

Can we become Brahm merely by saying "Aham Brahmasmi - that I am Brahm"   

or I am the Soul - I am a part of Almighty God" - etc.? 

Will we become Brahm just by repeating it a few times in the morning?

In Vivek Chudamani, Adi Shankaracharya says that one does not become a king merely by repeating: 

    'I am the king - I am the king.'

To become a king, one has to conquer the enemy.

In spirituality, the enemy means ignorance.

Truth can not be seen without removing the veil of ignorance from our eyes.

It is necessary to eliminate ignorance to experience the Ultimate Truth.

What an irony it is that we read the descriptions of Truth in the Scriptures -

We hear the Sermons on Truth from Saints and Gurus in the Satsangs -

We can even give elaborate speeches on the topic of Truth -

But, we hardly experience it within ourselves.

Until we experience it ourselves - reading, listening, and speaking about the Truth is nothing more than a mere exercise of the intellect.

The purpose of Gyana is to understand completely and experience the Truth ourselves.

ज्ञान का उद्देश्य है - सत्य का अनुभव

यदि हम बार बार  "अहं ब्रह्मास्मि - अर्थात मैं ही ब्रह्म हूँ -- 

अथवा मैं आत्मा हूँ - परमात्मा का अंश हूँ ' - इत्यादि कहते रहें -

तो क्या केवल कहने मात्र से ही हम ब्रह्म रुप हो जाएंगे?

विवेक चूड़ामणि में शंकराचार्य कहते हैं -  

' मैं राजा हूं - मैं राजा हूँ " - केवल इसका रटन करने से ही कोई राजा नहीं बन जाता।
राजा बनने के लिए शत्रु को विजय करना पड़ता है।
अध्यात्म में शत्रु का अर्थ है - अज्ञान।
सत्य का अनुभव करने के लिए अज्ञान का विनाश करना आवश्यक है -
आँखों से अज्ञान का पर्दा हटाना ज़रुरी है।

कैसी विडंबना है कि हम ग्रंथों में सत्य की परिभाषा पढ़ लेते हैं -
सत्संग में संतों से एवं गुरु जनों से सत्य की चर्चा सुन लेते हैं -
यहां तक कि हम सत्य पर भाषण भी दे लेते हैं
लेकिन जब तक हमें स्वयं सत्य का अनुभव नहीं होता तो पढ़ना सुनना और कह देना - 

ये मात्र बुद्धि के व्यायाम से अधिक और कुछ नहीं है।
सत्य को पूर्ण रुप से समझना और अनुभव करना ही ज्ञान का उद्देश्य है।

आशा हमदर्दी की थी इक भ्रष्टाचारी से 

न्याय मांग रहा था झूठों के प्रभारी से 

मुश्किल है रिश्वत या चापलूसी के बग़ैर  

काम करवा लेना कोई इक अधिकारी से 

मौक़ा मिलते ही  उठा लेते हैं फ़ायदा 

मज़लूम-ओ-बेबस ग़रीबों की लाचारी से 

और भला क्या निकलेगा ये सोचिए ज़रा 

सांप ही निकलेंगे सांपों की पिटारी से 

कैसे होतीं पूर्ण 'राजन' मन की आशाएँ 

हीरा मांग रहा था कोयले के व्यापारी से

Hoped to get sympathy from a corrupt person

Sought justice from the officer in charge of liars 

Without bribery or flattery - it's hard 

to get any work done from an official or administrator 

Whenever one gets a chance, everyone starts taking advantage 

of the helplessness of the oppressed, helpless, and poor  

Think - what else will come out of it after all?

Only snakes will come out of the snake pit  

How could the longings of our hearts be fulfilled?

We were asking for diamonds from a coal merchant

Mazahab-o-Millat ki deevaaren na gar hateen

Kal agar duniya mein Aadmi hee na rahaa

Sukh kay ye saamaan phir kis kaam aayenge?

Daur    = cycle, period

Mazahab-o-Millat ki deevaaren =  Walls of Religion & Communalism

Laashon kay dher = Piles of dead bodies

Pralay           = Doomsday

If the cycle of hatred continues like this

Sooner or later - We all will get burnt in this fire.

If the walls of communalism are not taken down 

There will be piles of dead bodies scattered everywhere 

And tomorrow -- 

If there are no people left in the world - 

What use will these things and devices of delight and happiness be?

If we do not understand this brutal fact soon enough 

No one will be able to save the earth from doomsday.

Everything can be seen as we wish to see

Everything in this world can be seen as we wish to see it.

It's not how things are - 

it's about how we look at them.

Be it a person or event - everything in the world appears to us as we want it to be.

Whether it is good or bad - whether a task is simple or complex - easy or difficult - it all depends on our own vision and thinking – how and from what perspective we look at them.

And how we look at them is all up to us - 

it all depends on our thoughts - our perspective and attitude.

 

हम वही देखते हैं जो देखना चाहते हैं

संसार में सब कुछ वैसा ही दिखाई देता है जैसा हम देखना चाहते हैं। 

चाहे कोई व्यक्ति हो या घटना - 

हर चीज़ हमें वैसी ही दिखाई देती है जैसी हम देखना चाहते हैं। 

कोई व्यक्ति अच्छा है या बुरा - 

कोई काम सरल है या जटिल - आसान है या कठिन  - 

कोई घटना शुभ है या अशुभ - 
ये सब हमारी अपनी दृष्टि और सोच पर निर्भर होता है कि हम उन्हें कैसे और किसी दृष्टिकोण से देखते हैं।

और हम उन्हें कैसे देखते हैं -- 

यह हमारी उस समय की सोच एवं मनोवृति पर निर्भर करता है।

अगर पौधों को गंदा पानी दे दिया जाए

अगर पौधों को गंदा कीचड़ भरा पानी दे दिया जाए तो क्या उनका बढ़ना रुक जाता है?

किसी के कठोर, हतोत्साहित - उत्साह भंग करने वाले या शत्रुतापूर्ण शब्दों को अपनी प्रगति में बाधा न बनने दें।

इस बात पर ध्यान देने के बजाय कि लोग आपको कैसे देखते हैं या आपके बारे में क्या सोचते और कहते हैं -
अपने लक्ष्य पर ध्यान केंद्रित करें और अपनी मंजिल हासिल करने के लिए आगे बढ़ते रहें।

Dirty water does not stop plants from growing

Do the plants stop growing if they are given dirty, muddy water?

Do not let someone's discouraging, cynical, or hostile words stop your progress.

Instead of paying attention to how people see you or what they say about you -

Focus on your goal and continue moving forward to achieve your destination.

Whenever you pick up the Mirror

Aaeena jab bhi Uthayaa Karo 

         Pehlay Dekho... 

                         Phir Dikhaaya Karo !!

Human Life and Personality

The life and personality of a human being - are divided into body, mind, intellect, and subconscious mind.

Not only the body but every part or element of the body needs proper food to stay alive and healthy.

To move ahead in life, we need to provide all of them with their appropriate food – physical, mental, intellectual, and spiritual - in adequate quantity.

Just as food is sustenance for the body

Similarly, thoughts are the nourishment of the mind

And knowledge is the food of the brain or intellect.

Just as the food given to the body automatically gets converted into energy through the digestion process without our knowledge, in the same way, the thoughts generated in the mind and the knowledge obtained through the intellect also automatically keep getting acquired and stored in the subconscious and affect and shape our future life and even afterlife.

Therefore - just as we try to arrange good, clean, and nutritious food to keep the body alive and healthy, similarly to move forward on the path of spirituality and peace, we must provide noble, pure, and sacred thoughts to the mind and true, correct, and factual knowledge to the intellect.

इंसान का जीवन और व्यक्तित्व

इंसान का जीवन और व्यक्तित्व - तन, मन, बुद्धि एवं चित्त में बंटा होता है।
जीवित और स्वस्थ रहने के लिए केवल तन को ही नहीं - बल्कि प्रत्येक हिस्से को उपयुक्त भोजन की आवश्यकता होती है।
हमें जीवन में अग्रसर होने के लिए इन सभी को उनके उपयुक्त भोजन - अर्थात शाररिक, मानसिक, बौद्धिक और आध्यात्मिक भोजन पर्याप्त मात्रा में उपलब्ध करवाने की आवश्यकता होती है।
जिस प्रकार शरीर का भोजन है अन्न
उसी तरह मन का भोजन है विचार
और बुद्धि का भोजन है ज्ञान

जिस प्रकार शरीर को दिया हुआ भोजन हमारे अनजाने में अपने आप पाचनक्रिया के माध्यम से स्वयंमेव ही ऊर्जा में परिवर्तित हो जाता है उसी प्रकार मन में उत्पन्न होने वाले विचार और बुद्धि से प्राप्त किया हुआ ज्ञान भी स्वयंमेव ही चित्त (Subconscious) में अर्जित होते रहते हैं और हमारे आगामी जीवन एवं परलोक को प्रभावित करते हैं।

इसलिए - जैसे शरीर को जीवित और स्वस्थ रखने के लिए हम अच्छे साफ सुथरे और पौष्टिक खाद्य पदार्थों का प्रबंध करते हैं उसी प्रकार अध्यात्मिकता एवं शान्ति के मार्ग पर अग्रसर होने के लिए मन और बुद्धि के लिए भी अच्छे, नेक - शुद्ध एवं पवित्र विचार तथा सत्य एवं यथार्थ ज्ञान रुपी भोजन उपलब्ध करवाने का प्रबंध करते रहना चाहिए।

Kaahnu aevain karen taqraar Sajanaa

Saara din Meri Meri kardaa phiren 

Jhoothaa aenvain karen hankaar Sajanaa

Sabh kujh chhadd ethay tur jaavnaa 

Jeehday layi karen maaro-maar Sajanaa

Jeehnaa layi karen din raat thaggiyaan

Kisay nahiyon laini teri saar Sajanaa

Jaandi vaari kisay nahinyon naal chalnaa

The days of life are four*- my dear friends.

Why spend them arguing and fighting all the time?

All day long, keep declaring 'Me & Mine'

It's nothing but false ego - my dear friends.

One day, everyone departs from this world, leaving everything here.

The things, that everyone struggles so hard to get.

Those loved ones - for whom one cheats and deceits - 

will not come to the rescue or become the partners of the consequences 

(when the time comes to repay)

While leaving this world, no one is going to accompany you -

No one is going to be your friendly co-traveler in the other world.

Why ruin life functioning on superstitions, misconceptions, and delusions all the time?

By keeping hatred and animosity for others -

Why carry a heavy load on your head?

Creating divisions in the name of religion while preaching is not a good thing -

it's false and deceiving the real meaning of religion - my dear friends.

Misleading the innocent, unsuspecting, and trusting masses is a sin -

Why do you want to become guilty of this sin, My dear friends?

The same God has created all human beings

All are made equal - My dear friends

We share the same earth - and the same sky

The world belongs equally to everyone - My dear friends

No one ever taught that there are two, three, or four Gods

There is only one creator - My dear friends

The Vedas say There is only one God - without the other**

Guru Nanak also said, "One Omkar."

One God created the whole universe.

All this expanse belongs to the One.

It's His light present in the continents and universes

The Glory of the great Lord is beyond comprehension.

Big or small, all are children of the same God

Flowers or thorns - all belong to Him - My dear friends

Those who understand this fact -

Do not keep envy and jealousy in their hearts.

They consider all people equal

and love everyone equally

They see God's image in everyone

and respect everyone from their heart.

Sweet and polite speech, and humility in the heart -

are the ornaments of their lives - My dear friends.

Doing good deeds and earning good merits

After all - This is the essence of life, My dear friends

Those who break the shackles of Maya and free themselves from its trap - 

Are the ones who crosse this world of suffering.

Do not become egotistic of having the Gyan - the sacred knowledge -

 My dear friends - The boat is still in the middle of the ocean.

** The Vedas Say -

Ekah Brahma Daviteeya Naastay - Neh Nai Naasti Kinchanam

(Brahma Sutra - Yajurveda)

Meaning - There is only one Almighty God -

There is no one other like Him - never was, nor is, and never will be.

In other words - There is only one Almighty God - not many - 

and there is no other like Him or equal to Him.

Meaning: Truth or God is one - 

but scholars explain it in many ways, through different names, forms, and attributes.
