Why am I alone?

This morning, I was wondering:

Why does everyone leave me?
Why do people abandon me?
Even friends have deserted me.
Why am I so isolated?
Why am I alone?

And then I heard a soft & serene voice:

Remember? It is you, who said “I want to be free”.

There are Two Kinds of Self

We have two 'Self s' .............

1. Lower Self ...

Which, consciously or unconsciously identify itself to be ‘lower’ and wants to become ‘higher’; become something, gain some position, accomplish some higher worldly status, achieve more… more… more and more.

This ‘lower self’ is called Ego…. which is always restless, without contentment.

2. Higher Self …

Aatma or Spirit which is God like.... Aseem; Infinite, All-pervading.
When we identify ourselves with the ‘higher self’ then everyone and everything becomes a part of the self. There is no restlessness, no craving for achieving something more - always happy and contented.

According to the Holy Scriptures, the aim of human life is to elevate itself from Lower-self to the Higher-Self.

Phal kaaran phooli banraaye
Phal laaga to phool Billaaye
Gyan kaaran karm abhyaas
Gyan bhayaa to karmay naas

Just like flowers vanish when the fruit appears, similarly when the Higher Self appears, the lower self (ego) vanishes.

ज्ञान कारण कर्म अभ्यास
ज्ञान भया तो कर्मे नास

When the power of love overcomes

When the power of love
overcomes the love for power -

- the world will know peace..

Education

Education is an admirable thing,
but it is well to remember from time to time
that nothing that is worth knowing can be taught.
               ~Oscar Wilde~

Simplicity

Undoubtedly, performing our duties is very important, but we need not burden ourselves with extra work and unnecessary responsibilities. We ourselves add to the problems with our own ambitions. Keep life simple by renouncing unnecessary cravings and desires, and it will bring contentment and peace.

There is a beautiful story in Jewish tradition, (posted before also) that goes like this:

About a century ago, a tourist from the United States visited the Polish Rabbi Hafez Hayyim.
He was astonished to see that the Rabbi's home was just one simple room filled with books.
The only furniture in the room was a small table and a bench, that also served as a bed.
"Rabbi, where is your furniture?" asked the visitor.
"Where is yours?" Asked Hafez.
"Mine? But I'm only a visitor here."
"So am I," said the Rabbi………

Materialistic things can provide comforts and luxury but they also create cravings and desires for more.
The holy scriptures warn us:
             लाख करोड़ी बन्ध न बांधे, परे परेरी सूझे रे
“Laakh karori bandh na baandhe, pare pareri soojhe re”

(Even the millions or billions cannot satisfy our hunger for more and put a stop to it; one always desires for more and more.)

It’s the Simplicity that brings contentment.
Give up as much as possible and turn toward the divine.
‘Experience’ the infinite glorious Almighty in your heart.
It brings joy.

The Missing Goat

It all started one lazy Sunday afternoon in a small town in Canada.
Two school-going friends had a crazy idea.

They rounded up three goats from the neighborhood and painted the numbers 1, 2 and 4 on their sides.

That night they let the goats loose inside their school building.

The next morning, when the authorities entered the school, they could smell something was wrong.

They soon saw goat droppings on the stairs and near the entrance and realized that some goats had entered the building.

A search was immediately launched and very soon, the three goats were found.

But the authorities were worried, where was goat number 3?

They spent the rest of the day looking for goat number 3.

The school declared classes off for the students for the rest of the day.

The teachers, helpers, guards, canteen staffs, boys were all busy looking for the goat number 3, which, of course, was never found.

Simply because it did not exist.

Those among us, who in spite of having a good life are always feeling a "lack of fulfilment" are actually looking for the elusive, missing, non-existent goat number 3.

Whatever the area of complaint or dissatisfaction; relationship, job, finance, achievements, ...... an absence of something is always larger than the presence of many other things.

Stop worrying about goat number 3

Meri Naiyya Paar Lagaa Dena

Hey Naath meri naiyya tum paar lagaa dena
Ab tak to nibhaayi hai, aage bhi nibhaa dena

Kahin bheed me duniya ki, main kho bhi agar jaaun
Jab door kabhi tum se,  main ho bhi agar jaaun
Hey Naath dayaa kar ke Tum mujhko bulaa lena
Hey Naath meri naiyya tum paar lagaa dena

Moh ki zanjeeron me, main bandh bhi agar jaaun
Maaya ki daldal me, main phans bhi agar jaaun
Hey Naath dayaa kar ke tum mujhko bachaa lena
Hey Naath meri naiyya tum paar lagaa dena

Kabhi apanay farzon se, main chook agar jaaun
Kabhi galatee se tum ko, main bhool agar jaaun
Hey Naath kahin tum bhi, mujhko na bhulaa dena
Hey Naath meri naiyya tum paar lagaa dena

Tum hi ho meri duniya, Tum hi ho meri zindagi
Tum hi ho meri pooja,  Tum hi ho meri bandagi
'Rajan' ki yehi iltejaa, meri tod nibhaa dena
Hey Naath meri naiyya tum paar lagaa dena

(Tarz: Sau baar janam lenge, sau baar fanaa honge
Ae jaane vafaa phir bhi, hum tum na judaa honge)

Note : I remember hearing the first two lines of this geet somewhere a long time ago, and they really touched my heart.
The rest of the song is based upon the same theme so it's possible that some words and idea might be similar to that original song.

Note :

One, who delivers great wisdom

He, who delivers great words of wisdom, will attract great number of seekers.

Good music, good food and personal relations can attract people temporarily but cannot hold them for long.

But those, who provide knowledge, wisdom and great service, along with sympathy, love and compassion, not only attract everyone but also preserve them.

All kind of people flock to them, because in them they find peace, security and happiness.
