In the maze of the world - Duniya ki bhool bhulaiyan mein

Duniya ki bhool bhulaiyaan mein ham apnaa thikanaa bhool gaye
Doraahay pay uljhay aisay - manzil ka nishaanaa bhool gaye

Jab raaz khula, maaloom hua ab tak to ham behosh hee thay
Ab raaz say vaaqif ho to gaye par hosh mein aanaa bhool gaye

Aaye thay jab duniya mein - vo din hai sab ko yaad magar
Is faani duniya say aakhir ik din hai jaanaa bhool gaye

Hai ajab mohabbat ki duniya jo aaye yahaan uljhay hee rahay
Ya hosh mein aanaa bhool gaye - ya hosh say jaanaa bhool gaye

Naam-Pyaala pee pee kar makhmoor huye hain jo 'Rajan'
Ik rang chadhaa un par aisa phir vo maikhaana bhool gaye

Makhmoor =  Khumaari, Intoxicated, in a frenzy

                                            English Translation

In the maze of the world - our actual place (our real purpose), we forgot.
Confused at the crossroads - the mark of the destination we forgot.

When the secret was revealed, we found that we were ignorant all this time.
Now, though we are aware of the secret, to apprehend the Gyan - we forgot.

Everyone remembers the day when they came into the world -
One day we have to leave this mortal world - we forgot.

The world of love is strange. Those who came here remained bewildered.
Either did not remember to wake up and come to their senses - or to leave the intellect out, they forgot.

Those - who became intoxicated after drinking from the cup of Naam (God's name)
are so much engrossed in the Naam that pub (bar) - they forgot.

                                           Summary
                                           1
We become so amazed and engrossed in the Maya - the maze of this world that we usually forget our objective.
There are always crossroads between worldly life and spirituality, and we usually get confused about which road to take.
It becomes a dilemma, and we often forget the mark of our destination.
                                           2
When we acquired Gyana, we realized that we were ignorant before.
Now that we know the Truth - but we still do not think in terms of Gyana - we are still superstitious and stuck in blind faith.
We came out of one type of delusion and superstition - but adopted other kinds of delusions,  misconceptions, and blind faith.
We forget to apply Gyana in our everyday thoughts and actions.
                                          3.
We all remember and celebrate the day we came into this world.
Birthdays are big celebrations - especially for the elders - older people.
We cheerfully celebrate an event that happened sometime in the past -
but forget what is inevitably coming in the future.

There is nothing wrong with celebrations.
However, we should also remember that life in this mortal world is temporary
That we will have to leave this world one day.
So, why create all these differences and distinctions - this hatred - hostility, and animosity?
Why try to accumulate so much wealth by cheating and depriving others of what they deserve - what belongs to them?
Celebrate life - but also remember the impermanence of this world.
                                        4.
The world of love and spirituality is unique - a strange and peculiar one.
One who walks on this path is usually baffled - perplexed.
Because Gyana demands logic - rational, analytical thinking
Whereas Bhakti - Mysticism requires pure love and devotion.
Bhakti, Mysticism is beyond logic and intellect.
Our path is the combination of both - Gyana and Bhakti.

However, it's hard to keep them both in balance all the time - in the proper ratio.
Sometimes we need to use the Gyana and logic
Sometimes we need to let go of the intellect.
And to know when to use the intellect and when not to - requires wisdom.
                                      5.
Meditation, Sumiran is also like intoxication.
One who gets engaged and engrossed in deep Sumiran forgets everything - his surroundings and conditions - even himself.
It's known as Naam-Khumaari.
It's elevating - more pleasing - higher, and more blissful than any other type of intoxication.
