Once a king was having lunch in his palace.
While serving the food - a little vegetable curry from the servant's hand accidentally spilled on the king's clothes.
The king's eyebrows rose. Angrily, he looked at the servant.
The servant got nervous and fearful.
But after thinking for a moment, he poured all the soup left in the pot on the king's clothes.
Now the king was enraged with anger.
Infuriated, he shouted at the servant: 'How dare you do this?
The servant calmly replied -
My Lord! Earlier, some curry from my hand accidentally fell on your clothes.
My Lord! Earlier, some curry from my hand accidentally fell on your clothes.
Seeing your anger, I knew that my life was over now.
But then I thought - when people will come to know about this - they will say the king has given a death sentence to an innocent servant just for such a small mistake.
I thought - you would be defamed.
People will think of you - not as a kind king - but as an oppressor tyrant.
So I poured the whole pot over your clothes - so that people consider me the offender and not blame you - considering it as my audacity - my disrespect towards you.
The king was stunned to hear this.
He saw the depth of his love and dedication toward his master.
He saw a wonderful - a significant message in the servant's reply.
He realized that a servant who serves the master day and night by taking care of all his needs and wants - getting angry at his small mistakes and punishing him is not proof of strength - but of inferiority and weakness.
In fact, such servants are better than the masters.
Then we also see that there are many others who serve their beloved masters and leaders without asking or expecting anything in return.
Not everyone can do this.
It's not easy to serve selflessly.
Not many can serve others without compensation - without any salary or fee for long.
But at the same time, they might make some mistakes too.
No one is perfect.
Therefore, the masters should be kind, generous, and forgiving.
Such people - who serve only with selfless dedication - without salary - without greed, or any reward in return - might be even better in some ways than the masters and leaders who are served.
Therefore, whether it is a subordinate, a servant, a follower - a friend, or a family member - one should not be angry at the small mistakes of such dedicated people.
Rather their intention and emotions of love and dedication should be appreciated and respected.
Thanks very much for sharing this reality. ๐
