A Rock of Salt dived into the ocean

A Rock of Salt dived into the ocean - to find out its depth.

Chali jo putali loon ki, Thaah sindhu kee lain
Aapuhi gal paani bhayi, Ulat kahay ko bain
                                               (Satguru Kabeer ji)

A rock of salt dived into the ocean to find out the depth and everything else about it.

But soon - it dissolved in the ocean's water and became a part of the ocean itself.
Now, who will come back to tell the complete story about the ocean?
About its depth and vastness - its magnitude - characteristics and qualities?

Here, the ocean is an emblem of the Divine - Supreme Universal power.
The rock of salt is a symbol of the soul.

Just as the ocean is the source of salt, the origin of the Soul is Divine Supreme power - known as Ishwar or Paramaatma.
Just as the salt is a part of the ocean - the Soul is a part of the Supreme.
Just as the rock of salt has a different identity until it is out of the ocean.
Similarly, the Soul creates its own identity - separate from the Supreme.

Using the analogy of salt and the ocean, Sadguru Kabir ji says that this rock of salt - the curious soul wants to dive into the sea of Super-Consciousness - to find out everything about it.

But, just as soon as the salt goes into the ocean, its separate identity ceases to exist.
Similarly, as soon as the soul immerses itself in the divine, it becomes one with the divine.
The duality ends - only Advaita (non-duality) remains.

Sadguru Kabir ji explains this fact further:
Jal me kumbh, kumbh me jal hai - baahar bheetar paani
Phootaa kumbh, jal jalhi samaana - Eh tath kathyo Gyaani

If we place a clay pot in the ocean, there will be water everywhere- inside and outside of the clay pot.
However - the water within the clay pot remains separated from the vast waters of the ocean.
The reason for this separation is the clay pot or the pitcher.
As soon as the pitcher breaks - the water inside the pitcher merges in the vast waters of the ocean.
The difference between the two vanishes.

Here, Kabir ji points out that Brahma (Supreme) is an infinite, all-pervading ocean, and the Jeeva - the beings are like the clay pots.
The Divine water of Consciousness is flowing everywhere - within and outside.
The entire universe is filled with the Divine Universal-Consciousness, and a part of the same Divine Consciousness exists within all the beings.

As long as the beings feel imprisoned in this form - color and shaped pitcher, its existence remains separate.

As soon as the pitcher breaks* - As soon as the Self becomes free from the captivity of the colors, forms, and shapes - and dives into the infinite Formless Divine - then all the differences end.
The distinction vanishes - the individual Soul becomes one with the Super Soul.
The ignorance turns into Gyan - the duality vanishes, and only Advait (Non-duality) remains.

However - Kabeer ji says - "Eh tath kathyo Gyaani "

That this fact can only be understood and realized by a Gyani - the Enlightened one.

Like that nugget of salt - no one can come back to tell the story of the other side. Because that duality, which is necessary to give any report of such experience, does not exist anymore.

Mohabbat Asal me 'Makhmoor' vo Raaz-e-Haqeeqat hai
Samajh me aa gayaa hai aur samjhaaya nahin jaata
                                                           (Makhmoor Dehalvi)

True love can only be felt and enjoyed - it can neither be granted to others nor explained.
Similarly - Duality can be explained -
Non-duality is indescribable.
                                        ' Rajan Sachdeva '

Note:
*The breaking of the pitcher does not mean the death of the body -
but the shattering of the illusion that 'I am the body'.
