Position of the High-minded people विचारशील मनुष्यों की स्थिति

कुसुमस्तवकस्येव द्वयी वृत्तिर्मनस्विनः
मूर्ध्नि वा सर्वलोकस्य शीर्यते वन एव वा
                          (भर्तृहरि नीति शतक)

Murdhni va sarvalokasya sheeryatay - van ev va

भावार्थ:
फूलों की तरह ही विचारशील मनुष्यों की स्थिति भी दो प्रकार की होती है 

या तो वे सर्वसाधारण के गले का हार - 

अर्थात उनके प्रतिनिधि या शिरोमणि बनते हैं 

या फिर वन में ही (एकांत में ही) जीवन व्यतीत कर देते हैं।

English Translation:

Just like the flowers, the position of the high-minded is also twofold.
Either to be on the head of the people - like a garland
or wither away in a forest - in isolation.
