Swami Vivekanand ji

Today - July 4th - is the day when Swami Vivekanand ji left this mortal world.

Swami Vivekanand was one of the most distinguished disciples of Shri Ramakrishna Paramhans -  and the greatest and foremost exponent of Vedanta in present times - who always emphasized the universal and humanistic side of the Vedas.
He was an activating force in the movement to promote Vedanta philosophy (one of the six schools of Indian philosophy).

Swami Vivekananda wanted to infuse strength and dynamism into Hindu thought, replacing the prevailing pacifism and escapism.
He emphasized that attaining knowledge and service to humanity and nature is more important than simply following dogmas, superstitions, and rituals.
When he appeared in Chicago as a spokesman for Hinduism at the World’s Parliament of Religions in 1893, he captivated the assembly with his dynamic personality and groundbreaking energetic speech.
The newspapers described him as “an orator by divine right and undoubtedly the greatest figure at the Parliament.”
Later, he lectured throughout the United States and England, presenting the Hindu thought and ideology of the Vedanta.
He left the mark of his personality on East and West alike.

After returning to India in January 1897, he started delivering a series of lectures in different parts of India, which created a great stir all over the country.

Through his inspiring and profoundly significant lectures, Swamiji attempted to uplift the consciousness of the people of India - to take pride in their deep ideology and cultural heritage.

He emphasized acquiring the Tattva Gyana - the True knowledge and applying the principles of Practical Vedanta - – and urged the educated people to focus on the plight of the oppressed and downtrodden masses and strive for their upliftment.
He left his mortal body on July 4, 1902.
Shat-Shat Naman to such great teachers and Gurus.
