Translation
O, mother, my mind is not in my control
Night and day, it runs after evil vices and wickedness.
How can I restrain it? ||1||Pause||
(Even after) Listening to the teachings of the Vedas, the Puraanas, and the Simritis, does not keep them in heart, even for an instant.
Desiring the wealth and women of other's life passes away uselessly.
Intoxicated with the wine of Maya, it does not seem to understand even a bit of Gyana- the spiritual wisdom.
Deep within the heart, the Immaculate Lord dwells, but he does not know this secret.
(But) When I came to the Sanctuary of the Holy Saints - all my evil-mindedness was dispelled.
Then, O Nanak, I remembered the Chintaamani, the jewel which fulfills all desires, and the noose of Death was cut off -
The cycle of life and death was broken.
