Jap maray Ajapaa maray - Anahad bhi mar jaaye

Jap maray Ajapaa maray - Anahad bhi mar jaaye
Surat samaani shabd mahi ja ko kaal na khaaye
                             ' Satguru Kabeer ji '

When Jap - Chanting, Doing Sumiran loudly with the tongue has faded

And Ajapaa - without words - without the use of the tongue (chanting in mind only) is also vanished.

Even Anhad - the sound current dies as well.

Then -

When Surat - the consciousness merges into the Shabd - known as Naad-Brahm -

There is no Kaal - there is no death.

                   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The first stage of Sumiran is chanting a sacred word or mantra loudly -
Repeating a word, mantra, or prayer phrase over and over again.
Ajapa is the stage beyond that - the next step.
In this stage, the chanting of words or mantras quietly continues in mind without speech -
without the use of the tongue.
Then comes the state of Anhad
The words disappear - even the sound dies -
Only the silent sound wave or current remains.
Here, Kabir Ji Maharaj is referring to a state in which the seeker should go beyond Jap - chanting -
and Ajapa - non-chanting.
Even passing the state of Anahad, the consciousness should merge into the Shabd itself.
That is, going beyond the above states -
The Surti - consciousness rises so high that it merges into the Shabd itself and becomes one with it.
I remember Baba Avtar Singh Ji Maharaj also used to say similar things.
Sometimes he used to ask some people if they have experienced the Anhad Naad?
If someone said - yes - it has happened.
Then Shahenshah Baba Ji would say - Ok - That is very good -
But don't stop here - go further - go beyond it.
                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Once, someone asked Swami Ramanand ji -

how do you do Sumiran?

Swamiji replied -

         Kar say japun na mukh say japun - ur say japun na Ram

         Ram sadaa ham ko japen aur ham paaven vishraam

Once, someone asked Swami Ramanand ji -

how do you do Sumiran?

Swamiji replied -

Neither I do Sumiran with (Maala - rosary in my) hands nor with my mouth (tongue)

Nor I do Sumiran of Ram - the Lord in my heart

Rather, the Lord does my sumiran, and I enjoy being at rest.

After reaching such a stage, the distinction between the devotee and the Lord ceases to exist.

Consciousness merges into the ultimate Supreme consciousness -

The individual soul becomes one with the Super Soul.

जप मरे अजपा मरे , अनहद भी मर जाए
