to make them happy - especially our bosses and superiors.
But the truth is that no one can please everyone.
No one can please even one person all the time.
Nevertheless, we get upset - sad, and disheartened when people do not appreciate what we do for them.
Despite our best efforts people try to find some faults and errors in the work we have done - Or they don't like the way it was done.
It's natural to get disheartened and discouraged when people criticize everything you do - especially when you are doing it for them.
However, if we think deeply, we will find that no one really does anything to please others.

However, if we think deeply, we will find that no one really does anything to please others.
We try to please our friends, relatives, and superiors because we know that eventually, it will benefit us in one way or the other.
Even when we do things to help others without any expectation, we do it because it makes us happy.
It gives us joy and happiness - a sense of fulfillment and makes us feel worthwhile.
So you see - the bottom line is that whatever we do - we do it for ourselves - to please and satisfy our-self in some way.
Therefore, without thinking of what others would say - without worrying about pleasing or displeasing others - we should keep on doing the good work - as long as it does not hurt us emotionally.

ReplyDeleteSo true. This is one good way of staying happy. Do good to other because it pleases you. Since you are already pleased, then why be concerned whether it is appreciated or not as you are already rewarded.
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right -- getting happiness after doing good is a great reward in itself

ReplyDelete๐๐ผ So true Jรฌ! As we have also been taught… other way to look at this is to do “karam with akarta bhav. Fulfill our duties without attachment to results, dedicating the fruits of our actions to God. With this approach we will neither be pleased nor upset upon the outcome of any of our actions.
ReplyDeleteEasier said than done though…
