In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says:
Jaatasya hi Dhruvo Mrityuh
"For one who is born, death is certain."
(B G 2-27)
This is not just a spiritual teaching — it’s a universal truth.
We all know this. We hear about it.
We often talk about it.
In fact, death is the only thing we can be absolutely sure of.
And yet, do we truly take this truth seriously?
When it comes to our own mortality, we tend to look away.
We live as though death is something that happens to others — distant and abstract.
So, we distract ourselves, avoid the thought, and carry on as if we have all the time in the world.
We make plans for the distant future, chase ambitions, argue over trivial matters, and fight over differences of opinions and religious beliefs — all while ignoring the fact that our time here is limited.
In the back of our minds, we behave as if we’ll go on forever.
But the reality is right in front of us:
Death is not a distant possibility — it’s a certain and inescapable part of life.
Ignoring the truth doesn’t make it disappear.
It only prevents us from getting prepared to face it.
