मासूम था वक्त और मासूम थे चेहरे
कम  थीं ज़रुरतें और रिश्ते थे गहरे
फिर दौर-ऐ-ज़माना बदलता गया
मुझ में था जो एक मासूम सा बच्चा
पिछड़ता गया  वो सहमता गया

  

Maasom tha vaqt aur maasoom thay chehray

Kam thin zaroorten aur rishtay thay gehray 

Phir daur-e-zamaana badaltaa gayaa 

Mujh me tha jo ek maasoom sa bachaa 

Pichhadta gaya vo sehamtaa gayaa

The times were innocent - 

and people were innocent indeed.

The needs were few - 

and the relationships were deep

Then the times changed

That innocent child, which was within me - 

became frustrated, disheartened, and intimidated 

and could not move forward anymore.
