Yesterday, I was listening to a press interview of Dr. Abdul Kalam, the late president of India, in which he shared one of his personal experience about the leader of the company that he used to work for as a scientist.
They launched a shuttle into space which could not make it. During the press conference - after the failure of the project -the leader of the team took the whole responsibility for the failure on himself.
The next project, after a year or so, was successful and while giving a statement to the press, the leader gave the whole credit of its success to his entire team.
Remembering the details of the project, A.P. Kalam said:
"When the failure occurred, the leader took it up and when the success came, the leader gave it to his team".
"This is one of the greatest qualities of a great leader"- he added "that a leader takes failure on his shoulders but gives others the credit in success"
