To find out the depth of the Ocean
Cahli jo putali loan ki, Thaah sindhu ka lain
Aapuhi gal paani bhayi, Ulat kahai ko bain
(Satguru Kabeer ji)
A small rock of salt dived into the ocean to find out the depth and everything else about it. But soon, it dissolved in the ocean's waters, and itself became a part of it.
Now, who will come back to tell the story - all about the ocean?
Here, the ocean is the symbol of the Divine, Supreme, Universal power and the rock of salt is the soul.
Just as the ocean is the source of salt - the origin of the soul is the Divine Supreme power known as Ishwar or Paramatma.
Just as the salt is a part of the ocean - the soul is a part of the Divine.
The rock of salt has a different identity until it is out of the ocean.
Similarly, the soul creates its own individual identity - separate from God.
Using the analogy of salt and the ocean, Sadguru Kabeer ji says that Soul - the rock of salt - wants to dive into the ocean of Super-Consciousness - to find out everything about it.
But, just as soon as the salt goes into the ocean, its separate identity ceases to exist.
Similarly, as soon as the soul immerses itself in the divine, it becomes one with the divine.
The duality ends - only Advaita (non-duality) remains.
The duality ends - only Advaita (non-duality) remains.
Sadhguru Kabir ji explains this fact further:
Jal me kumbh, kumbh me jal hai - baahar bheetar paani
Phootaa kumbh, jal jalhi smaana - eh tath kathyo Gyaani
If we place a clay pot in the ocean, there will be water everywhere- inside and outside of the clay pot.
However, even though there is water in and outside of the clay pot - the water within the clay pot remains separated from the outer water.
The reason for this separation is the clay pot or the pitcher.
As soon as the pitcher breaks, the water inside the pitcher gets merged in the vast waters of the ocean.
The difference between the two ends.
Here, Kabir ji is pointing to the fact that Brahma (Supreme) is an infinite, all-pervading ocean, and the Jeeva - the beings are like the clay pots.
The Divine water of Consciousness is flowing everywhere - within and outside.
The entire universe is filled with the Divine Universal-Consciousness, and a part of the same Divine Consciousness exists within all the beings as well.
The entire universe is filled with the Divine Universal-Consciousness, and a part of the same Divine Consciousness exists within all the beings as well.
As long as the beings feel imprisoned in this form - color and shaped pitcher, its existence remains separate.
As soon as the Self becomes free from the captivity of the color, form, and shape, and dips into the infinite Formless Divine, then all the differences end.
The distinction vanishes - the soul becomes one with the Supersoul.
The ignorance turns into consciousness - the duality vanishes, and only Advaita (Non-duality) remains.
However, This fact can be understood by the Gyanis only.
Like that nugget of salt - who will come back from there to tell the story of the other side?
Because that duality, which is necessary to give any report, does not exist anymore.
Duality can be explained - Non-duality is indescribable.
