We See and Judge from our Perception.

We see and judge everything according to our own perception.
We can never see anything as whole, in totality, at any given time. We can only look at things from a certain angle. Therefore, the wise looks from every angle and knows that no one is all good or all bad; completely righteous or completely evil. Knowing that no one is perfect, they do not pass judgment.
Remember the ancient Indian story of six blind men and the elephant?
Here is a version in poetry form by John Godfrey Saxe.

The six Blind Men and the Elephant

It was six men of Hindustan

To learning much inclined,
Who went to see the Elephant
Though all of them were blind,
That each by observation
Might satisfy his mind.

The First approached the Elephant,

And happening to fall
Against his broad and sturdy side,
At once began to bawl:
"God bless me! But the Elephant
Is very like a WALL!"

The Second, feeling of the tusk,

Cried, "Ho, what have we here,
So very round and smooth and sharp?
To me 'tis mighty clear
This wonder of an Elephant
Is very like a SPEAR!"

The Third approached the animal,

And happening to take
The squirming trunk within his hands,
Thus boldly up and spake:
"I see," quoth he, "the Elephant
Is very like a SNAKE!"

The Fourth reached out an eager hand,

And felt about the knee
"What most this wondrous beast is like
Is mighty plain," quoth he:
"'Tis clear enough the Elephant
Is very like a TREE!"

The Fifth, who chanced to touch the ear,

Said: "Even the blindest man
Can tell what this resembles most;
Deny the fact who can,
This marvel of an Elephant
Is very like a FAN!"

The Sixth no sooner had begun

About the beast to grope,
Than seizing on the swinging tail
That fell within his scope,
"I see," quoth he, "the Elephant
Is very like a ROPE!"

And so these men of Hindustan

Disputed loud and long,
Each in his own opinion
Exceeding stiff and strong,
Though each was partly in the right,
And all were in the wrong!

Bach kar Kahaan Jaayega

Jab jahaan me kisi maal-o-zar waale nay
Apani jhoothi khudaayi ka daava kiya
To maut nay yoon kahaa, koi chhota badaa
Mere panjay say bach kar kahaan jaayega

Karnay chalaa tha khaaq jab saare jahaan ko
to khaaq ke zarray ne us say hans ke yoon kahaa
Dafn ho jayega too khaaq me ek din
O' Sikandar tu bach kar kahaan jaayega

'Destiny' or 'Free Will' (Little Humor)

Destiny or Free Will?

It's a common debate among the intellectuals.

Most people think it's one or the other.

In fact, it's a combination of both.

A disciple went to his Guru for a clearer understanding.

Disciple:  Guru ji ! What is the difference between 'Destiny' and 'Free Will'?

Guru ji:  To make it easier for you to understand - let me put it this way:

    Your height is your 'Destiny'

and your weight is your 'Free will'

Hukam Rajaayi Chalna .....

"kiv sachiara hovayi - kiv koodhai tutay paal
Hukam rajaayi chalnaa Nanak likheya naal"
                                              (Japuji Shaib)

How can we become ‘Truthful’ - How can the veil of delusion or illusion be broken?
Nanak says   staying in (Lord's) Hukam and living according to his Raza (will).

After reading or listening to this verse from the Gurubani, instantly a question arises in mind that how can we know the Lord's will?
How do we know what is His Hukam (Command) and Raza - His wish?
The answer is also found in Gurubani and other religious texts.
For example, in Sukhmani Sahib, Guru Arjun Dev, while describing the qualities of a Saint, writes:

"Jo hoaa – hovat so jaanay
                        Prabh apanay ka huqam pachhanay"

 The saints believe that
"Whatever happened was supposed to happen that way.
They understand that it was the Lord's command”.

Because nothing is contrary to the command of the Lord or the rules made by Him.

We often think that " I wish it did not happen the way it happened" and become upset, angry or very sad.

But the Bhaktas -the devotees, in every situation, accept it by believing "whatever was supposed to happen, happened"

If we think deeply, we can have only two options when something happens:

1. Replace whatever has happened with the way you wanted it to happen - according to your wish.
2. Or, change your thoughts - the idea that "I wish it did not happen this way".

Can the past events be changed?
Can we change the incidents that have already happened by thinking over and over: “I wish it did not happen this way”?

We know this is not possible.
But the desire - our thoughts can be changed.

In reality, we have only two choices:
Either keep suffering by thinking over and over "I wish it did not happen like that"
Or change our thoughts - by accepting that "whatever happened - was supposed to happen".

Instead of blaming others or ourselves, the situation or circumstances - willingly accepting it and keep moving forward with life in a normal way with intuitive sense is the key to live a peaceful life.
