Kya zindgi ik khwaab hai - ik khushnuma gumaan hai?
Ya haqeeqat kee ziya hai - Rooh kee pehachaan hai
Kya saath lay kar aati hai sadiyon kay Tajurbaat-o-Fun
Ya Nayi Takhleeq hai - Naasamajh hai, Naadaan hai
Kya sukh aur duhkh mein dooba ik afsaana hai ye zindgi?
Ya kuchh adhoori khwaahishon ko paanay ka armaan hai
Kya zindagi puraanay rasm-o-raahon ka hai silsilaa
Ya naye aayaam paanay ka naya rujhaan hai
Kya puraani dhaarnaon tak hee ye mehdood hai
Ya Takhayyul kee ye laa-mehdood nayi udaan hai
Kya hazaaron hasraton ka majmooaa hai zindgi
Ya zindgi ka maqasad keval dharm aur Imaan hai
Yoon to daud hai zameen say aasmaan talak magar
Sab ko jaan kay bhee apnay aap say anjaan hai
Daana ye kehtay hain dil ka aaeena hai zindgi
Nuqtaacheeni ka nahin - khudbeeni ka saamaan hai
Kya zindgi Sawaal hai ? ya koyi imtehaan hai?
Kya zindgi ik Farz hai ya Qarz ka bhugtaan hai?
Ya Hasti aur Vujood kee 'Rajan' haqeeqat jaan kar
Jism-o-Jaan kee had say paar honay ka imkaan hai?

English Translation
Is life a dream - a pleasant illusion?
Or is it the manifestation of reality - the identity of the soul
Does it bring with it the experiences and Talents of centuries (Through reincarnation)
Or is it a newly created life - Unwise, Immature and Naive
Is life a tale drenched in happiness and sorrow?
Or is it here to achieve some unfulfilled desires
Is it supposed to be a continuous series of old rituals and ways
Or to start a new trend to achieve new dimensions
Is it limited to continuing old beliefs and dogmas
Or is it an unlimited flight of imagination
Is life a collection of thousands of desires
Or is the purpose of life only to follow religion and faith
Though it is racing from the earth to the sky
But even after knowing everything, it is unaware of itself.
The wise say that life is the mirror of the heart
It is not a tool for nitpicking but for self-examination
Is life a query? Is it a test?
Is life a duty or a payment of old debts?
Or after knowing the reality of existence and being
Is it an opportunity to cross the limits of body and Mind - (and achieve Moksha)?

ReplyDeleteSo beautiful uncle ji 🙏🏻
ReplyDeleteLife is everything and nothing, nothing and everything. It is a dream, an illusion, and a reality. It is happiness and sorrow, together and apart. Whether you keep faith or chase dreams, life is a canvas where dreams and faith interweave, creating a unique tapestry for each individual. Sometimes, it feels like seeing everything for the first time; other times, it's a déjà vu. Ultimately, life is shaped by our perceptions, choices, and the meanings we ascribe to our experiences. Life is what you make it to be! ☺️
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem that explores the depths of what life is all about. What’s admirable about it is that it presents many facets of what life could possibly be, but doesn’t dictate the writer’s own beliefs. Instead it allows you to choose your own meaning of life. Nice!
ReplyDeleteThank you Nagrani ji
