What is Parmaarth

Vriksh kabahun na phal bhakhen - Nadi na sanchay neer
Parmaarth kay kaarnay - Saadhun dharaa shreer
                                                   'Kabeer Ji'

Meaning:
Trees never eat their own fruits or flowers.
Rivers never save the water of their flowing stream for themselves - they do not drink their own water.
Similarly, The Sadhus - the great people live for others - not just for themselves.

According to Kabir ji, Paramarth means Tyaag - sacrifice.
A Saadhu is one who is blessed with this quality.

The scriptures refer to human life as Karma-Yoni (Rationally Active life form) - not a Bhog-Yoni (Based on Instinctive Action and reaction).
Apart from human beings, all animals and birds, etc., are known as Bhog-Yoni. They do not have the faculty of logical thinking - they can neither uplift themselves nor others.
Like humans - animals, birds, and other creatures cannot make any new invention - cannot create any better means to improve their life.
Only humans have got this gift - skill and ability.

Therefore - Kabir ji says that after attaining human life, one should help and serve the poor, needy, and oppressed.
This is the quality of Saints and Sages.

However, the Saints and Mahatmas of today collect money from poor followers and build big palaces for themselves, and are seen traveling in high-priced, expensive cars.
Today our mindset is limited to material wealth, selfish motives, and sensual pleasures only.

Rahim, a famous Hindi poet said:
Jyon jal baadhay naav may - Ghar may baadhay daam
Dono haath uleechiye yahi Sajjan kau kaam

If the water comes in the boat - and if one gets too much money - (more than enough for his needs) - Then emptying the boat - giving the excessive amount to the needy, is what the great and wise people do.

One does not become good just by reading, listening, or speaking about good things.
Human life should not be limited only to the upbringing of oneself and one's family. Helping the needy according to one's ability and capacity - contributing to charity - social and ethical works is called humanity.
