Immortality ......

Knowing that life continues in some form is immortality.

Just as matter can not diminish altogether -
it only changes its structure, consciousness too never dies and continues in a new form - or without any form.

However, with form, comes the feeling of pain, suffering, and joy.
The purpose of spirituality and all religions is not to achieve immortality - but to attain freedom from pain and suffering.

Bhagavad Geeta and all other ancient Indian scriptures ask us to practice this state of mind - being free from suffering and joy - in this current lifetime.
