English translation
If you are the mighty mountain, then I am the peacock
If you are the moon, then I become the chakora (Partridge - a bird that longs for the moon)
O Madhav, my Lord - Please do not forsake me, I too shall never forsake you,
If I break my bond with you, with whom else shall I unite?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ਜਉ ਤੁਮ ਗਿਰਿਵਰ ਤਉ ਹਮ ਮੋਰਾ
ਜਉ ਤੁਮ ਚੰਦ ਤਉ ਹਮ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਚਕੋਰਾ
ਮਾਧਵੇ ਤੁਮ ਨ ਤੋਰਹੁ ਤਉ ਹਮ ਨਹੀ ਤੋਰਹਿ
ਜਉ ਤੁਮ ਚੰਦ ਤਉ ਹਮ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਚਕੋਰਾ
ਮਾਧਵੇ ਤੁਮ ਨ ਤੋਰਹੁ ਤਉ ਹਮ ਨਹੀ ਤੋਰਹਿ
ਤੁਮ ਸਿਉ ਤੋਰਿ ਕਵਨ ਸਿਉ ਜੋਰਹਿ
DeleteDnk ji! One of the names of Shri Krishna is also Girivar. Since there is always a peacock feather in His crown, Guru Ravidas ji has aptly added the metaphor of peacock. 🙏🏽
