"kiv sachiara hovayi - kiv koodhai tutay paal
Hukam rajaayi chalnaa Nanak likheya naal"
(Japuji Shaib)
The saints believe that
Hukam rajaayi chalnaa Nanak likheya naal"
(Japuji Shaib)
How can we become ‘Truthful’ - How can the veil of delusion
or illusion be broken?
Nanak says staying in (Lord's) Hukam and living according
to his Raza (will).
After reading or listening to this verse from the Gurubani, instantly
a question arises in mind that how can we know the Lord's will?
How do we know what is His Hukam (Command) and Raza - His wish?
The answer is also found in Gurubani and other religious
texts.
For example, in Sukhmani Sahib, Guru Arjun Dev, while
describing the qualities of a Saint, writes:
"Jo hoaa – hovat so jaanay
Prabh apanay ka huqam pachhanay"
"Whatever happened was supposed to happen that way.
They understand that it was the Lord's command”.
Because nothing is contrary to the command of the Lord or
the rules made by Him.
We often think that " I wish it did not happen the way
it happened" and become upset, angry or very sad.
But the Bhaktas -the devotees, in every situation, accept it
by believing "whatever was supposed to happen, happened"
If we think deeply, we can have only two options when something
happens:
1. Replace whatever has happened with the way you wanted it
to happen - according to your wish.
2. Or, change your thoughts - the idea that "I wish it did
not happen this way".
Can the past events be changed?
Can we change the incidents that have already happened by
thinking over and over: “I wish it did not happen this way”?
We know this is not possible.
But the desire - our thoughts can be changed.
In reality, we have only two choices:
Either keep suffering by thinking over and over "I wish
it did not happen like that"
Or change our thoughts - by accepting that
"whatever happened - was supposed to happen".
Instead of blaming others or ourselves, the situation or
circumstances - willingly accepting it and keep moving forward with life in
a normal way with intuitive sense is the key to live a peaceful life.
