" Nishtha Dhritih Satyam "
Nishtha means Faith, Trust, Loyalty, or Devotion.
Dhriti means to hold - and Satyam is Truth.
Nishtha Dhritih Satyam -
Meaning: have faith, trust, and loyalty in the Truth only.
In other words - our faith, trust, and allegiance should be based only on Truth -
and should always remain connected to the Truth.
Because - Satyam Shivam Sundaram -
Truth is Shiva - Beneficial and Beautiful.
Truth is Shiva – Shiva is Truth – and Shiva or Truth is beautiful.
What is Truth?
Nasato Vidyatay Bhavo Nabhavo Vidyatay Satah
(Bhagavad Gita 2-16)
Meaning: That which does not exist everywhere and forever - which does not always stay the same - is unreal.
And that - which is all-pervading - always exists – always stays the same -
which has always been and will always be – is Truth.
That Truth is known as Shiva - the omnipresent and all-pervading formless Parbrahm or God.
This Omnipresent, Formless God is called Shiva.
And only Truth is beautiful and beneficial.
That is why the scriptures say that our loyalty and faith should only be based and maintained upon Truth and nothing else.
