Baba Hardev Singh ji had a global vision of spirituality.
That is why, along with continuing the older traditions, he also wanted to bring in the new system according to the changing world - such as seminar type of Satsang programs, sports, and cultural events as well. I had the privilege of knowing him personally from his early youth when he was studying at Yadvindera Public school, Patiala. He was always too shy and quiet by nature. Many times I went to see him in his hostel room - to deliver some message, food, chocolates or clothes, etc. sent by Rajmata ji.
Knowing that he would be the next Sadguru, I always did Dandvat namaskar to him just like I saw Bhapa Ram Chand ji ji doing namaskar to him. He always asked me not to do that - the dandvat namaskar to him - especially if he was playing or sitting with his school friends. But I always, very humbly and politely declined - saying that how can I stop myself from paying him the respect he deserves.
Once, when I saw him in Delhi and did the namaskar the same way, he even said, look - you are a Gyan Pracharak and I am nothing. It doesn't seem right.
I was so impressed by his humility.
I was so impressed by his humility.
Many personal blissful memories are connected with this great personality during my close physical associations with him that I will always cherish in my heart.
One of his great qualities was forgiveness that we all saw from the first day he took over the reins of the mission - when he said no revenge against his father's assassins. He said, do not shed blood - donate it.
He announced April 24th - the day of his father's assassination as the day of Human Unity and blood-donation day.
Though, as Nirankari mission's core philosophy, followers were always taught to believe in worshipping only Nirankar - the Formless Almighty Supreme power - yet, most devotees were drawn to him - more towards his physical form because of his wonderfully pleasing and charming personality.
However, his teachings and guidance to steer the devotee's attention towards the Almighty, and the efforts of trying to bring oneness will always be remembered and will continue to guide humanity for centuries.

ReplyDelete"Love personified"- A title befitting H.H. Baba ji & very right when you point out that his persona was magnetic in nature. Mesmerizing were his face expression.Peculiar trait amongst many has been his sense of humour and unmatched skill in unfolding myriad of names of places, objects, things, cities with meaningful synonyms. Like asking ng for"towel"(tolia in hindi/punjabi) after handwash he asked where is dho-lia? An iconic n institution in itself never-to-be amongst survivors again.
ReplyDeleteAap ji ke jeevan ko dekh ke hi lagta hai ki aap par Satguru ki hamesha vishesh kripa rahi hai...
