In a Mehfil - a poetic symposium, a poet read a Sher (couplet)
Zindaa rehnaa hai to shauq bhee zinda rakhiye
Jism ka kya hai - man udtaa parindaa rakhiye
Meaning:
If you want to stay alive -
then keep your passions also alive.
Regardless of the body - (if it follows or not)
keep the mind flying like a free bird.
Everyone liked it -
They said it is true -
if there is no passion left in life, then life is useless.
Then another poet got up and read a Rubaai -
Husn dhal gaya magar gurur abhi baaki hai
Nashaa to utar gaya - surur abhi baaki hai
Javaani nay dastak dee - aur aa kar chali gayi
Zehan mein magar vahi futoor abhi baaki hai
Meaning:
The beauty has faded, but the pride is still there.
The intoxication has waned, but its effects are still there
Youth knocked at life - it came and went away.
But the same mischief and naughtiness - disorder and chaos are still left in mind.
People praised him also -
They thought he was right too -
After all, the mind - the desires, passions, and thoughts must also change along with age and time.
But after leaving the concert - people only remembered and made it their ideal which was suited to their own choice.
Some people thought that if passions and pursuits die, then what is the use of living?
Therefore life should be thoroughly enjoyed.
And some thought -
Well - now the time has passed.
Youth is gone, old age has come -
No point in going anywhere - nothing more to do -
just sit quietly and live the rest of your life by being idle - passive and inactive.
Ultimately - everyone believes and adopts selective ideas -
what they like and choose personally -
what resonates to them according to their own perceptions and choices.

ReplyDeleteSo true! People only take the message that resonates in their mind.
ReplyDeleteIn the first case, people were only looking towards their future.
In the second case, people were only nostalgic about their past.
Why not live in the present moment and be thankful for it?
This is very true.🙏
