We are taught to believe

We are taught to believe in a jealous God who does favors to those who worship him, and hold them for those who don’t - God, that wants constant appreciations, favors, and sacrifices and wants to be worshipped all the time. We believe he showers blessings upon his favorite ones, or becomes angry and throws wrath upon those who disobey him.

Interestingly, some people even believe that they have the responsibility of ‘protecting God from his enemies’ and that it’s their duty to establish his rule over all people and bring the whole world under the control of “their God”. As if some of the worlds might be ruled by the other gods, the enemies of their own god.
If the whole universe is created and controlled by the ‘one supreme God’ - if he is all-powerful and omnipotent, then why does he need help from his faithful and obedient people to destroy his enemies and disobedient ones?

It is said in the Bible that ‘God made man in His own image’.

We think, since we are his image, then he must be like us.
Therefore, this is how we perceive Him, but are these the qualities of a true, just, most merciful and loving God?

We attribute man-like qualities to God because we cannot think beyond our own perceptions, and expectations. So we create and perceive a God in our own image.

In reality:

“Roop na raikh na rang kichh, Traih Gun tay Prabh bhinn”                                                                       (Sukhmani sahib)
(God is beyond any form, shape or color, and any attributes or characteristics whatsoever)

“Moodho Ayam Naabhi Janaati Loko Maamajmavayam”

The ignorant does not know that I (God) am beyond birth and death and without attributes)
‘Bhagvad Gita’ (Chapter 8, Shlok 25)

The great Vedas proclaim Him as ‘Svayambhu’, one who is by Himself, without a second… neither created nor can be attributed to any worldly qualities.

‘Svayambhu’, in Gurubani is translated as ‘Saibhang’.

And also:

“Thaapeyaa na jaye, Keetaa na hoye
Aapay aap Niranjan soye”              (Japuji Sahib)

Neither can be established, nor can be created,
He is simply - Himself.

Asli Rishtay

Khoon ke rishtay bhi parivaaron ke hotay hain
Asali Rishtay Lekin vichaaron ke hotay hain
Vichar milen to rishtay qaayam rehtay hain 'Rajan'
Vlarna to tukday hi parivaaron ke hotay hain

Worldly Knowledge and Spirituality

By seeking worldly knowledge every day,
something is gained everyday.

By seeking Spirituality every day,
something is lost everyday.

By learning something everyday, we gain more knowledge.
We will know more, but we can never know all there is to know.
There is always something more to know, to learn.

By losing something everyday, we eventually lose everything, until there is nothing left to lose.

By practicing Spirituality, we slowly start losing jealousy, envy, anger, hatred, ego, desires and attachments. And when we lose everything ; all of the above, and when there is nothing more left to lose, we achieve 'Moksha', 'Nirvana'.

Kuchh Padh ke So

Kuchh likh ke so, Kuchh padh ke so
Kuchh rach ke so, kuchh gadh ke so
Jis jagah jaaga tha tu subah
Us jagah se kuchh aage badh ke so

Khursheed.... why sun is so Bright

Khursheed ko yoon hi to haasil nahin Jaah-o-jalaal
Zindagi bhar jalnaa padtaa hai jahaan ke vaastay

Khursheed ............ Sun
Jaaho-o-jalaal ........ Brightness and shine

Is me bhi kai raaz hai

Tabiyat meri in dino nasaaz hai
Zindagi ka saaz be-avaaz hai
Tareeqiyan hain har tarf 'Rajan' magar
lagtaa hai is me bhi koi raaz hai

We want to see our own Image

We always want to see our own image in others. We love them as much of our own self we see in them. A father wants to see himself in his son. He wants him to be what he is or what he himself wanted to be. He wants his son to achieve what he himself wanted to, but could not.

But it's not always possible. Everything changes with time,  including the environment and life styles. Every new generation's thinking is different than the previous one's. Their interests and ways of doing things, their ambitions and general outlook on life may not be same as the previous generation.

Hence the differences and clashes in interests and ideologies are bound to happen.

To keep loving and healthy relationships, an ideal sitution would be to meet in the middle. But practically the older generation has to make more adjustments. They have to understand that their times have passed and they need to accept the change and sacrifice their own ideas in order to maintain the harmony.

What is Wisdom

Knowledge without logic can be false, It may not be true knowledge.

Knowledge without experience is 'borrowed knowledge'.

Logic, intelligence and experience put together in harmony is 'Wisdom'.

Door and the Key

A door is much smaller compared to the house
a lock is much smaller compared to the door
And a  key is the smallest of all.
But, a key can open an entire house.
Thus a small, thoughtful solution can solve major problems.
