You are the Universe; you are the very essence of existence.

All forms are yours -  yet You - Yourself are formless.

You are eternal, infinite, indivisible, and beyond all dualities.
Unshakable, Unwavering, Unconquerable, and Incomparable. 

In the formless state, you are beyond attributes and untouched by change.

Yet, in every particle of the universe, you manifest as the embodiment of form.

When my eyes open, may I see only you - everywhere.

And in the depth of my closed eyes, may your presence always dwell within.

My life exists because of you; you are my source - my foundation.

You always stay with me, whether it is shade or light.

धर्म का सार

बाई जुई चीन के तांग राजवंश के दौरान एक महत्वपूर्ण सरकारी अधिकारी थे।
एक अवसर पर, उन्होंने एक भिक्षु से धर्म उपदेश प्राप्त करने की इच्छा व्यक्त करते हुए कहा :

"कृपया मुझे भगवान बुद्ध के गहनतम विचारों का सारांश समझाइए "

भिक्षु ने तीन संक्षिप्त वाक्यों में बुद्ध शाक्यमुनि द्वारा दिए गए उपदेश का सार प्रस्तुत किया:
"बुराई से बचो - अच्छे कार्य करो - और अपने मन को शुद्ध करो।"

बाई जुई प्रभावित नहीं हुए।
"यह तो तीन साल का बच्चा भी जानता है।

भिक्षु ने उत्तर दिया,
"हाँ! सच है कि तीन साल का बच्चा भी इन शब्दों को जान सकता है
लेकिन वास्तव में तो अस्सी वर्ष के बुजुर्ग भी अभी तक इन शब्दों को अपने जीवन में नहीं उतार पाए हैं।"

Essential instructions in Dharma

Bai Juyi was an important government official during the Tang Dynasty in China.
On one occasion, he sought essential instructions in the Dharma from a monk.

"I want to know the most profound and fundamental statement of the Buddha".
He asked.

The monk quoted a summary of the doctrine that the Buddha Shakyamuni offered:
"Avoid evil - Do good - and Purify your mind”.

Bai Juyi was not impressed.
"Even a three-year-old child knows these words.

The monk replied,
" Yes! A three-year-old child knows these words,
But in reality, even the elders of eighty still have not put them into practice."

Chaahay koi hoshyar hai Ya hai seedhaa saadaa

क्योंकि उसका उद्देश्य केवल अपनी श्रेष्ठता और स्वयं को सही साबित करना होता है।

भगवान शिव की छवि का प्रतीकात्मक अर्थ

                     हिंदू देवी देवताओं के प्रतीकात्मक स्वरुप - छवियाँ और उनका महत्व 

भगवान शिव, विष्णु, गणेश, सरस्वती और दुर्गा जैसे हिंदू देवताओं की छवियाँ उनके वास्तविक चित्र नहीं, बल्कि प्रतीकात्मक रुप हैं 

- ये गहरे अर्थों वाले प्रतीक होते हैं।

भारत के प्राचीन ऋषि मुनि और विद्वान गूढ़ सत्य को सरल तरीके से समझाने के लिए रुपकों और प्रतीकों का उपयोग करते थे। इसलिए, हिंदू दर्शन को वास्तव में समझने के लिए, इसके प्रतीकवाद को समझना आवश्यक है।  

सत्संग, संत समागम और ऐसे पवित्र धार्मिक पर्व हमें याद दिलाते हैं कि हमें हमेशा सच्चाई और धर्म के मार्ग पर बने रहना चाहिए।  

ये पर्व हमें निरंतर धर्म के मार्ग पर चलने और अपने आध्यात्मिक लक्ष्य पर अडिग रहने की प्रेरणा देते हैं।  

लगभग बीस वर्ष पहले, मैंने नैशविल (टेनेसी) में महाशिवरात्रि के अवसर पर भगवान शिव की छवि में निहित प्रतीकवाद की चर्चा की थी।  

अभी कुछ लोगों ने इसे दोबारा पोस्ट करने का अनुरोध किया है। 

                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

                              भगवान शिव: आदि योगी तथा आदि गुरु   

भगवान शिव को आदि योगी (प्रथम योगी) और आदि गुरु  (प्रथम एवं सनातन गुरु) माना जाता है।  

योगी और  गुरु शब्द आपस में गहराई से जुड़े हुए हैं।  

योगी का अर्थ है जिसने आत्मज्ञान प्राप्त कर लिया - परम तत्व के साथ जिसका योग अर्थात मिलाप हो गया।   

गुरु का अर्थ है जो सत्य का ज्ञान प्रदान करके अज्ञानता का अंधकार दूर करता है।

परंतु कोई गुरु - यदि वह स्वयं आत्मज्ञान को प्राप्त योगी न हो तो वह एक सच्चा गुरु नहीं हो सकता।  

जो स्वयं ब्रह्मज्ञानी न हो, वह दूसरों को सही राह नहीं दिखा सकता।  

उसी प्रकार, यदि एक योगी अपने ज्ञान को दूसरों के साथ साझा नहीं करता, तो उसका योग अधूरा है।  

यदि वह अपने ज्ञान को केवल अपने तक सीमित रखता है और दूसरों को मार्ग नहीं दिखाता, तो वह स्वार्थी कहलाएगा।  

शिव दोनों का प्रतीक हैं—वह परम योगी भी हैं और सनातन गुरु भी।   

                   

                                    भगवान शिव की छवि में निहित प्रतीकवाद

                                    1. परिवेश - ध्यान मुद्रा और शांत वातावरण
भगवान शिव ध्यान मुद्रा में शांत और स्थिर वातावरण में विराजमान हैं।
यह इस तथ्य को दर्शाता है कि ज्ञान और आध्यात्मिक उन्नति के लिए उपयुक्त वातावरण आवश्यक है।
एक साधक को आत्म ज्ञान एवं आत्म-मंथन के लिए अनुकूल वातावरण तैयार करना चाहिए या ऐसा वातावरण खोजने का प्रयास करना चाहिए।

                                           2. बंधी हुई जटाएं
शिव के शीश पर बंधी हुई जटाएँ अनुशासन और मानसिक नियंत्रण का प्रतीक हैं।
बिखरे हुए बाल अनियंत्रित विचारों और इच्छाओं का प्रतीक होते हैं
जबकि सिर पर बंधी हुई जटाएँ अनुशासन और संयम का प्रतीक हैं जो मन और बुद्धि पर प्राप्त नियंत्रण को दर्शाती हैं।

                                          3. शीश पर बहती गंगा की धारा
पुराणों के अनुसार, जब गंगा स्वर्ग से धरती पर उतरी, तो शिव ने उसे अपनी जटाओं में धारण कर धीरे-धीरे धरती पर प्रवाहित किया।
गंगा ज्ञान की उस दिव्य धारा का प्रतीक है, जिसे शिव ने उच्च लोक अर्थात विकसित आत्म शक्ति के द्वारा प्राप्त किया - उसे अपने भीतर आत्मसात किया और फिर संसार के कल्याण के लिए बाँटा।

                                            4. अर्ध चंद्र
चंद्रमा शीतलता, धैर्य और मानसिक संतुलन का प्रतीक है।
यह हमें सिखाता है कि आध्यात्मिक यात्रा में मन का शांत और संतुलित रहना आवश्यक है।
आध्यात्मिक उन्नति के लिए मन को शांत और स्थिर रखना ज़रुरी है।

                                           5. मस्तक पर तीसरा नेत्र
शिव के मस्तक पर तीसरा नेत्र - तीसरी आँख - विवेक, अंतर्दृष्टि और परम सत्य को देखने की शक्ति का प्रतीक है।
यह समझाता है कि सत्य को केवल भौतिक आँखों से नहीं, बल्कि तीसरे नेत्र अर्थात ज्ञान चक्षु से देखने की आवश्यकता है।

                                                6. कंठ में लिपटा नाग (सर्प)
सर्प नकारात्मकता, अहंकार और भय का प्रतीक है।
शिव इसे अपने गले में धारण करके यह समझा रहे हैं कि नकारात्मक शक्तियों से डरने या भागने की बजाय हमें उन पर नियंत्रण रखने की कोशिश करनी चाहिए।

                                                        7. नीलकंठ (नीला गला)
समुद्र मंथन के दौरान, जब अमृत और विष उत्पन्न हुए, तो सभी ने विष को ग्रहण करने से इंकार कर दिया।
शिव ने इसे स्वेच्छा से ग्रहण किया, लेकिन उसे अपने कंठ में ही रोक लिया - गले से नीचे नहीं उतरने दिया
अर्थात् नकारात्मकता के अस्तित्व को स्वीकार तो किया, परंतु उसे अपने भीतर उतरने नहीं दिया।
यह हमें सिखाता है कि जीवन में नकारात्मकता और विषमताएँ तो आएँगी, लेकिन उन पर नियंत्रण रखते हुए उन्हें अपने मन-मस्तिष्क पर प्रभावी नहीं होने देना चाहिए।
अगर कहीं नकारात्मकता दिखाई दे या सुनाई दे तो उसे आत्मसात करने की बजाए नज़रअंदाज़ कर देना चाहिए - गले से नीचे अर्थात पेट में न जाने दिया जाए।

                                    8. शरीर पर भस्म अर्थात राख का लेप
शिव का शरीर भस्म से ढका हुआ है, जो हमें यह याद दिलाता है कि शरीर नश्वर है और अंततः मिट्टी में मिल जाएगा। केवल आत्मा ही सत्य है, जो शाश्वत और अमर है।
इससे हमें भौतिक शरीर के अहंकार को त्यागकर शाश्वत जीवन की सच्चाई को समझने की प्रेरणा मिलती है।

                                         9. त्रिशूल
त्रिशूल तीन गुणों - सत्व, रजस और तमस का प्रतीक है।
ध्यान मुद्रा में, शिव का त्रिशूल थोड़ी दूरी पर भूमि में गड़ा होता है - जो यह बताता है कि वह तीनों गुणों से परे हैं। त्रिगुणातीत हैं।
परंतु आवश्यकता पड़ने पर अन्याय और अधर्म का नाश करने के लिए वह इसे धारण भी कर सकते हैं।

                                             10. डमरु
प्राचीन समय में भारतीय गाँवों में यदि कोई घोषणा करनी हो तो लोगों को इकट्ठा करने के लिए डमरु का प्रयोग किया जाता था। डमरु बजा कर लोगों को एकत्रित होने का संदेश दिया जाता था।
शिव के हाथ में डमरु यह संकेत देता है कि एक सच्चा गुरु अपने ज्ञान को अपने तक ही सीमित नहीं रखता, बल्कि सभी साधकों को ज्ञान प्राप्ति के लिए आमंत्रित करता है।
डमरु ज्ञान के प्रसार और गुरु के आमंत्रण का प्रतीक है।

                                            11. कमंडल
शिव के सामने रखा एक छोटा सा कमंडल सादगी और संतोष का प्रतीक है।
उनकी आवश्यकताएँ इतनी सीमित हैं कि वे एक छोटे से पात्र में ही समा जाती हैं।
अर्थात सच्चा योगी या गुरु धन-संपत्ति इकट्ठा करने की बजाए संतोष, त्याग और सरलता में जीवन व्यतीत करता है।
ये बताता है कि एक सच्चे योगी या गुरु को धन संचय में नहीं, बल्कि त्याग और संतोष में जीवन बिताना चाहिए।

                                           आध्यात्मिक संदेश
भगवान शिव की प्रत्येक प्रतीकात्मक छवि अपने अंदर गहरे अर्थ समेटे हुए है, जो साधकों को ज्ञान और आत्म-साक्षात्कार के मार्ग पर अग्रसर करती है।
ये प्रतीक हमें ज्ञान, अनुशासन और आत्म-साक्षात्कार का संदेश देते हैं।
इन प्रतीकों के सही अर्थ हमें अपने आध्यात्मिक पथ को स्पष्टता और उद्देश्य के साथ समझने और जीवन में सही दिशा अपनाने में सहायक हो सकते हैं।
सत्संग, संत समागम, और पवित्र त्योहारों का उत्सव हमें धर्म के मार्ग पर बनाए रखने और अपने लक्ष्य से न भटकने की निरंतर प्रेरणा देते हैं।
इसलिए, हमें इन पावन पर्वों को केवल एक परंपरा के रुप में नहीं, बल्कि इनमें निहित गूढ़ संदेश को समझकर श्रद्धा भाव के साथ मनाना चाहिए। क्योंकि शिवरात्रि तथा अन्य पर्व मनाने का वास्तविक उद्देश्य स्वयं को और सभी साथियों को सत्य के पथ की ओर प्रेरित करना है।
इसलिए - इस शुभ महाशिवरात्रि के अवसर पर हम सभी सत्य, धर्म और न्याय के मार्ग पर चलने का संकल्प लें।

The Symbolism of Lord Shiva's Images

The images of Hindu Gods—such as Shiva, Vishnu, Ganesh, Sarasvati, and Durga—are not actual portraits but symbolic representations. The ancient rishis, the scholars of India, used metaphorical language and symbolic imagery to convey profound truths. To truly understand Hindu philosophy, one must grasp its symbolism.  

Satsangs, Sant Samagams, and the celebration of such sacred festivals are a constant reminder to stay on the path of righteousness and remain steadfast in our spiritual goals. 

About twenty years ago, on the occasion of Maha Shivratri in Nashville, I shared my understanding of the symbolism behind Lord Shiva’s image. 

Recently, some people asked me to repeat it, so I am posting it here again for the benefit of all readers. 

                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

                                Lord Shiva: The Adi-Yogi and Adi-Guru  

Lord Shiva is known as the Adi-Yogi (the first Yogi) and Adi-Guru (the first or the Eternal Guru).
The terms "Yogi" and "Guru" are closely related.
A Yogi is the one who has attained enlightenment - while a Guru is the one who removes the veil of ignorance by imparting knowledge (Gyana) to seekers.
However, a Guru cannot be a true Guru if he is not an Enlightened Yogi himself.
Similarly, a Yogi remains incomplete if he does not share his wisdom with others.
A Yogi will be selfish if he does not help others to achieve what he has accomplished.
Thus, Shiva is an embodiment of both.
He is the symbol of the ultimate Yogi and the Eternal Guru.

                                Symbolism in Lord Shiva’s Image  

                                1. The Surroundings   

Lord Shiva is depicted sitting in a meditative pose - in a calm, peaceful environment. This symbolizes the importance of one’s surroundings in the pursuit of knowledge and spiritual growth. 

A seeker (sadhak) must consciously create or seek an environment conducive to their quest for wisdom (Gyana).  

                                 2. Matted Hair   

Shiva’s knotted hair represents the controlled mind and intellect. Loose and wavy hair symbolizes scattered thoughts and desires, but tying them in a knot signifies discipline and mastery over the mind.  

                         3. Ganga – The Flow of Knowledge  

According to the Puranic story, when the Ganga descended from heaven, Shiva caught it in his hair and released it gradually onto the earth. **Ganga represents the flow of divine knowledge (Gyana), which Shiva received from higher realms, processed within himself, and then shared with the world.**  

                        4. The Crescent Moon 

The cool and peaceful moon symbolizes **tranquility, patience, and emotional balance.** It reminds seekers that a calm and steady mind is essential for spiritual progress.  

                                5. The Third Eye  

Shiva’s third eye represents the mind’s eye—the ability to perceive deeper realities beyond physical sight. It symbolizes wisdom and insight, allowing one to see the ultimate Truth beyond illusions.  

                                

                             6. The Serpent Around His Neck 

The serpent represents the presence of negativity, danger, and ego. Instead of fearing or denying it, Shiva controls and contains it around his neck, signifying mastery over destructive forces.  

                           7. The Blue Throat (Neelkanth)   

In the legendary Samudra Manthan (churning of the cosmic ocean), both nectar and poison emerged. No one wanted to accept the poison, but Shiva selflessly consumed it, preventing it from harming the world. However, he held it in his throat, not letting it affect him.  

This teaches us that negativity exists in the world, and we may encounter it, but we must not let it enter our hearts and minds.  

                            8.  Ashes on the Body   

The ash covering Shiva’s body symbolizes the impermanence of the physical form.

It reminds us that the body will turn to dust, but the eternal soul (Atma) is changeless.  

                           9.  The Trishul (Trident) 

Shiva’s trident, planted in the ground beside him in meditation, represents the three Gunas (Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas). Since it is not in his hand, it signifies that Shiva is beyond these three fundamental qualities of nature (Traigunaateet). 

Yet, when necessary, he wields it to destroy evil.  

                          10. The Damru (Drum)   

In ancient Indian villages, the Damru was used to make announcements. 

Here, it symbolizes a Guru’s call to seekers—an invitation to receive knowledge. 

The enlightened Guru does not keep wisdom to himself but invites others to learn.  

                          11.  The Kamandal (Water Pot)   

A small pot placed before Shiva represents contentment and simplicity. 

His needs are minimal, fitting within a small vessel, showing that a true Guru or Yogi does not accumulate wealth for personal gain. 

Instead, they live a life of detachment and selflessness.

                                     The Spiritual Message

Each element in Shiva’s image carries profound symbolism, guiding seekers on the path of wisdom and self-realization. Understanding these symbols helps us navigate our own spiritual journey with greater clarity and purpose.

The true purpose of celebrating Shivratri is to illuminate the path of truth 

 — not only for ourselves but for those around us as well.

The real purpose of Satsangs, Sant Samagams, and the celebration of such sacred festivals is to constantly remind ourselves to stay on the path of righteousness and remain steadfast in our spiritual goals. 

Therefore, we should celebrate these auspicious occasions not merely as rituals, but with a deep understanding of the wisdom they impart.

शिवरात्रि मनाने का प्रयोजन स्वयं को एवं हर प्राणी को सत्य का मार्ग दिखाना है 

जीवन में कोई गारंटी या वारंटी नहीं होती

जीवन में किसी प्रकार की कोई गारंटी या वारंटी नहीं होती

जीवन तो सिर्फ संभावनाएँ और अवसर प्रदान करता है।
यह हम पर निर्भर करता है कि हम उनका सदुपयोग करें या व्यर्थ जाने दें—
उन्हें अनदेखा कर दें या उन्हें सफलता में बदल लें।

सीट बेल्ट बांध लें

उड़ान भरने से पहले, हवाई जहाज में एक घोषणा की जाती है:

'अपनी सीट बेल्ट अच्छी तरह से बांध लें।'

क्योंकि, जैसे-जैसे विमान ऊपर चढ़ता है, अवांछित हलचल और उथल पुथल का खतरा होता है जो विमान में अस्थिरता पैदा कर सकता है। 

इसी तरह, अगर हम जीवन में ऊपर उठना चाहते हैं, तो हमें अपने विचारों की बेल्ट को वास्तविकता और दृढ़ संकल्प की सीट पर अच्छी तरह बांध कर रखना चाहिए - कहीं ऐसा न हो कि हम अस्थिर हो कर सही दिशा खो दें और अपने असली गंतव्य से दूर चले जाएं।

Before a flight takes off, the crew makes an announcement:
                    'Fasten your seat belt.'
Because, as the plane ascends, there is a risk of turbulence that could cause instability.

Similarly, if we wish to rise above in life, we must keep the belts of our thoughts firmly fastened to the seat of reality and determination — lest we lose direction and drift away from our true destination.

The image speaks volumes, conveying multiple key messages.

First and foremost, showing respect to others—especially those considered "less privileged"—does not lower our own dignity - it does not diminish our own stature.
True stature lies in humility.

Second, contrary to popular narratives, not all Indians adhere to the notions of upper and lower castes or class divisions.
In fact, Respect, humility, modesty, and politeness toward everyone— kindness toward all living beings - including nature — are deeply embedded core values of the Indian culture.

Lastly, true respect for sanitation workers is not just in gestures but in actions by keeping our surroundings clean - it means not littering in the first place. 

Be responsible—do not litter, and choose eco-friendly, biodegradable products to protect our fragile ecosystem.

अभिमान और सम्मान -- Ego vs Respect

जब हमें लगता है कि हम ने कुछ किया है - तो अभिमान बढ़ जाता है
सम्मान तब मिलता है जब लोगों को लगता है कि हम ने कुछ किया है

भक्त कवित्री सहजो बाई अपने गहरे आध्यात्मिक विचारों के लिए जानी जाती हैं।
इस दोहे के माध्यम से वो हमारा ध्यान इस ओर दिलाना चाहती हैं कि हमारे शरीर के ऊपरी अंग—आँख, कान, मुख, और नासिका— बेशक ऊँचाई पर स्थित होते हैं, लेकिन फिर भी पूजा इनकी नहीं बल्कि पैरों की होती है - पाँवों को ही अधिक पूजनीय समझा जाता है।
क्योंकि पाँव हमें धरती से जोड़ते हैं - धरती से जुड़े रह कर हमें संसार में यात्रा करने का आधार देते हैं। इसलिए जब कोई किसी का सम्मान करता है, तो वह उसके चरणों में सिर झुकाता है। किसी से कुछ लेने के लिए - कुछ सीखने या प्राप्त करने के लिए हम देने वाले के चरणों में झुकते हैं। शिक्षा देने वाले शिक्षक अथवा गुरु के चरणों में या उनसे कुछ नीचे बैठते हैं। यह विनम्रता और सेवा का प्रतीक है।
यहां सहजो बाई यह संदेश दे रही हैं कि विनम्रता और सेवा ही सच्ची महानता का मापदंड हैं। केवल ऊँचे स्थान पर स्थित होने मात्र से ही कोई पूजनीय नहीं हो जाता, बल्कि सच्ची श्रद्धा और सम्मान उन्हें मिलता है जो दूसरों के लिए उपयोगी होते हैं।

Sab koi Poojay Paanv --- Feet are Revered

         Aankh Kaan Moonh Naasika Unchay Uncay Thaanv

             'Sehjo' Neechay kaarnay  Sab koi Poojay Paanv

Sahjo Bai is known for her profound spiritual thoughts. 

Through this couplet, she seeks to draw our attention to the fact that while the upper parts of our body—eyes, ears, mouth, and nose—are positioned at a height, it is not these that are worshipped, but rather the feet that are considered more revered.

Because the feet connect us to the earth—they keep us grounded and provide the foundation for our journey through the world. That is why one bows at someone’s feet as a gesture of respect. When we seek something—be it money, knowledge, or blessings—we lower ourselves towards the feet of the provider. 

We sit lower - at the feet of our teachers or gurus as a mark of humility and learning. This symbolizes reverence, humility, and service.

Here, Sahjo Bai conveys that true greatness is measured by humility and service. Merely being placed in a higher position does not make one worthy of reverence; true respect and devotion are reserved for those who are of service to others.

NO UNIFORM, NO VIOLENCE, NO POLITICS,

Nowhere else HUMANS ever congregate(d) for a single event in such a number; be that religious, sports, war, funeral, or festivity. It’s always been the KUMBH mela and this year it’s Maha Kumbh, which is celebrated every 144 years. The world looks with awe at the statistics; 400 million people over 44 days, over 15 million taking the holy dip on the first day, a temporary city across 4,000 hectares, 150,000 tents, 3,000 kitchens, 145,000 restrooms, with 40,000 security personnel, 2,700 AI-enabled cameras, etc. These are mind-boggling statistics but that is not what makes me wonder. MY AWE IS NOT ABOUT MATERIALISM, STATISTICS, OR PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THIS EVENT.. It’s not about what our eyes can see. It’s not about size or numbers. What amazes me is (what we call ancient) knowledge of humanity’s connection with the universe. It amazes me that its rituals are performed with reference to the alignment, positioning, and timing of the celestial bodies in the heavens signifying human relationship with the Cosmos and its physical and spiritual effect on human destiny and future. It has no power structure or political polity driving it. It’s indigenous to the faith. It’s not about an organized religion. It’s not about a hierarchy. This Hindus Dharma’s understanding of the humanity’s relationship with the universe, from vegetation (under our feet) to the stars (in the milky way) is an evidence of the advanced knowledge in Hinduism which has extraterrestrial roots & connections. The meditating Sadhus’ consciousness is able to reach frontiers beyond space & time. It breaks the illusion of duality of me & the universe. BEYOND MATERIAL SCIENCE I think today’s space travel through rockets is a primitive technology. Our physical bodies are not us. We don’t need to physically travel anywhere as once we understand that we are souls having a physical experience, from localised particles, we become infinite, part of the whole, present everywhere, as entangled particles exhibit; distance and time barriers lose existence. When we become pure consciousness; part of the divine light; timeless and formless. It’s the awe when Sadhus of Himalayas and Quantum mechanics take a holy dip together in the vast ocean of knowledge. It’s not enough to say that Hinduism is aligned with nature. There is no duality; it’s nature itself. Being a Hindu is coming back to your natural state. Nature is Hindu !! 💐

जैसे एक स्वान अर्थात कुत्ता अगर क्रोध में होगा तो अपने दांतों से आप की टाँग पकड़ कर काट लेगा

और अगर प्रेम करेगा तो आपका मुँह चाट लेगा।

दोनों ही बातें आप के लिए ठीक नहीं हैं। 

अर्थात दोनों तरह से आप का ही नुकसान है।

इसलिए बुरी नियत रखने वाले लोगों से दूर रहना ही अच्छा है। 

Neither enmity nor friendship ... Vair Bhalaa na Preet

Neither enmity nor friendship is wise with mean-spirited people.

A dog may bite you in anger or lick your face in affection—

Both scenarios are undesirable and harmful.

Rahim says it is neither wise to be enemies with mean-spirited people nor to befriend them.

He gives an example of a dog—

If the dog gets angry, it will bite your leg 

And if it shows affection, it will lick your face.

Neither action is good for you.

In other words, both situations ultimately cause you harm. 

Therefore, it is better to stay away from those with bad intentions.

The Name of Ram – The name of Hari, Ishwar, or Prabhu, 

however it is taken, is always useful and blissful.

Whether someone chants it out of devotion and love, or out of compulsion –

The fruits of devotion are inevitably reaped.
Just as a seed, whether sown upright or upside down in the soil,
When the time comes, it naturally sprouts and bears fruit.

राम का नाम - हरि ईश्वर प्रभु का नाम जैसे भी लिया जाए, सुखदाई ही होता है। 

चाहे कोई रीझ के अर्थात प्रेमवश भजे या मजबूरी से - 

सुख में भजे या दुःख एवं निराशा की अवस्था में - 

भक्ति का फल अवश्य ही मिलता है 

जैसे धरती में बीज को सीधा डालो या उल्टा - 

समय आने पर वह बीज स्वयं ही पनपने और फल देने लगता है।

पुराने साल की नसीहत - नए साल की ज़रुरत

ये जाते हुए पुराने साल की नसीहत भी तुम हो  

और आने वाले हर इक साल की ज़रुरत भी तुम हो    (तुम = निरंकार ईश्वर)

कि जो तौफ़ीक़ रखते हैं बना लें Resolution वो       (सामर्थ्य, Capability)

मैं इक अदना सा बंदा हूँ - मेरी हैसीयत भी तुम हो 

सिरफ़ कुछ ख़ास दिन और पल मुक़द्दस मानते हैं लोग   (पवित्र, Auspicious)

मगर मेरे लिए हर काम का मुहूरत भी तुम हो

नज़र आता है जो  वो सब तुम्हारा रुप ही तो है  

छुपी रहती है जो परदे में वो हक़ीक़त भी तुम हो 

जिसे कहते हैं मिथ्या वो भी तेरा अक़्स ही तो है 

जगत माया है लेकिन माया की असलीयत भी तुम हो 

तुम्हारे नूर से रौशन है ख़लकत का हर इक ज़र्रा 

तुम्हीं ख़ालिक़ भी हो क़ादिर भी हो और क़ुदरत भी तुम हो 

तुम्हीं से ही शुरु हो कर तुम्हीं पर ख़त्म हो जाए

तुम्हीं आग़ाज़ हो ख़लक़त का और क़यामत भी तुम हो

मेरी दुनिया तुम्हीं से है - तुम्हीं हो मेरा मुस्तक़बिल       (भविष्य)

मेरे इस लोक और परलोक की अहमीयत भी तुम हो  (महत्ता Importance)

तुम्हीं हो हमसफ़र मेरे - तुम्हीं हो हमनवा मेरे  

मेरी दौलत भी तुम ही हो मेरी वसीयत भी तुम हो 

ये इल्म-ओ-फ़न ये ज़हानत - सभी तेरी इनायत हैं     (इल्म, कला,सोच-विचार)

मेरी फितरत, मेरा किरदार, मेरी क़यादत भी तुम हो     (मार्ग-दर्शन)

सकून-ए-दिल तुम्हीं से है तुम्हीं दिल का सहारा हो 

मेरी अज़मत तुम्हीं से है - मेरी मसर्रत भी तुम हो      (प्रतिष्ठा) (प्रसन्नता) 

तेरी रहमत से ही तो कट रही है ज़िंदगी साहिबा

हर इक मुश्किल का हल भी तुम दुखों में राहत भी तुम हो 

तुम्हारे करम से ही ज़िंदगी है खुशनुमा 'राजन'

मेरी मंज़िल भी तुम ही हो मेरी अक़ीदत भी तुम हो    (श्रद्धा)

And the Truth hidden behind the veil is also You.

Even what is called Maya, an illusion - is a reflection of You,
The world is Maya indeed - but the essence of Maya is also You.

Every atom of creation shines with Your light,
You are the Creator, the Sustainer, and the Nature as well.

You are the Beginning - You are the ending,
