Higher Thinking means thinking and exploring beyond the obvious - knowing that there is more to what meets the eye.
Just as a higher tower needs a deeper foundation, the higher thinking is based on going deep within.
Although studying and listening can enhance our knowledge and thought process, however, thinking is an internal matter. The deeper we go within in silence, the higher will be our understanding of the Self.
On the superficial level, we see and think of ourselves as a physical body, and the materialistic world around us as the means of our survival, comfort, and pleasure.
But when we go deeper - beyond the superficial level of our sense perceptions and observations, we discover the unity of all things and start seeing oneness everywhere around us.
We start seeing unity in diversity.
However, as long as we live in the physical world, diversity can not be overlooked and disregarded altogether.
But at the higher level of thinking, one can see the diversity as it is.
He can accept the differences and disagreements without any bitterness and anger.
Knowing that there is some unity at the deeper levels - he can respect everyone's views and beliefs without feelings of hatred or animosity towards anyone.
Just as when the water heats up, it leaves all its impurities behind and turns into steam, and starts to rise higher.
In the same way, an enlightened mind leaves all petty differences and diversities behind and starts climbing into the higher plains of thinking.
