Naam letay hain vo mera (They mention my name with.... )

Naam letay hain vo mera kyon dushnaam say  (Disdain)
Miltay hain jin say hamesha hum ikraam say    (Respectfully)

Beqaraari me na aayi neend raat bhar
Dil udaas tha bahut hee kal ki sham say

Jab muqablaa nahin mera kisi kay saath
Kyon hasad hoti hai unko meray naam say
                 (Envy)

Ab karoon un say gila to kis tarah karoon
Gham diye us nay baday hee Ehtiraam say
                                                     (Respectfully)

Be-khudi me chaak ho gayaa tha girebaan
See raha hoon ab baday hee Ehtimaam say
                                                    (Carefully)

Gar buraa karay koyi to bakhsh do usay
Kya milega tum ko aakhir intekaam say
                                                (Revenge)

Kal jisay dekhaa tha ik darvesh ki tarah
Aaj phirtay hain vo kitnay Ehtishaam say
                                         (Grandeur, Splendor)

Chhod day Maalik pay apni zindgi ki dor
Hongay maslay hal usi kay intezaam say

Sach nahin miltaa mehaj padhnay ya sunanay say
Maarfat aati hai Rooh mein ilhaam say
                  (Spiritual wisdom)   (divine internal inspiration)

Dekh leen duniya-e-rang-o-boo ki ishrten   (Pleasure)
Ab to 'Rajan' dil lgaa kay dekh Raam say
                   " Rajan Sachdeva "

(Likh rahaa tha ye ghazal main kal ki shaam say
Peshe-khidmat hai tumhen saadar pranaam say)

                English translation

Why do they utter my name with disdain,
Those with whom I always meet with honor and respect?

Restless through the night, I could not sleep —
My heart was heavy and sad since yesterday evening.

When I contend with no one, seek no acclaim,
Why do they feel envy at the mention of my name?

And how can I complain to them — in which way?
For they gave me sorrow too — with courtesy and grace.

In my heedlessness, my garment was torn apart.
Now I am trying to mend it with great care and caution.

If someone wrongs you, forgive and let it be
What will you truly gain by taking revenge?

Those I once saw humble and wandering like beggars,
Now roam in splendor —adorned with pride and preen.

Surrender the reins of your life to the Master (of the universe)
All troubles will dissolve by His divine arrangements.

Truth cannot be found merely by reading, studying, or listening,
It dawns within as realization — through the soul’s awakening and stirring.

Have seen the fleeting joys of this world of colors and fragrance
Now, Rajan, let your heart dissolve in the love and glory of All-pervading Ram.
                   " Rajan Sachdeva "

P.S.
I began composing this ghazal at yesterday’s twilight hour,
And now, with humble reverence, I offer it at your service.
