कबीर एह तन जाएगा Body is destined to perish

कबीर एह  तन जाएगा सकहु ता लेहु बहोरि 

नागे पाओं ते गए जिन के लाख करोरि 

हाड़ जले ज्यों लाकड़ी - केस जले ज्यों घास 

एह  तन जलता देख के भयो कबीर उदास 

जैसे जल ते बुदबुदा उपजै बिनसै नीत 

जग रचना तैसे रची कहु नानक सुन मीत 

ज्यों सपना और पेखना तैसे जग को जान 

इन में साचो कुछ नहीं नानक बिन भगवान 

राम गयो रावण गयो जा का बहु परिवार 

कहु नानक थिर कछु नहीं सुपने ज्यों संसार 

सूरज किरण मिले जल का जल हुआ राम 

जोती जोत रली  सम्पूर्ण थीआ काम

Kabeer eh tan jayega sakahu ta lehu bahori 

Naange paon tay gaye jin kay laakh karori 

Haad jalay jyon laakdi - kes jalay jyon ghaas 

Eh tan jaltaa dekh kay bhayo Kabeer udaas 

Jaisay jal te budbuda upjai binasai neet 

Jag rachna taisay rachi kahu Nanak sun meet 

Jyon sapana aur pekhana taisay jag ko jaan 

In mein saacho kuchh nahin Nanak bin bhagavaan 

Raam gayo Raavan gayo ja ka bahu parivaar 

Kahu Nanak thir kachhu nahin supanay jyon sansaar 

Sooraj Kiran mile jal ka jal hua Raam

                 English translation:

Kabir says: This body is destined to perish;  Do you think you can seize it and hold on to it forever? 

Even those who possessed millions and billions ultimately departed barefoot (empty-handed).

The bones burn like firewood; the hair burns like grass. 

How sad it is to see the body consumed by flames, says Kabeer.

Just as a bubble rises from the water and bursts, appearing and vanishing ceaselessly,

So, too, is the fabric of this world woven—listen, my friend, says Nanak.

Just as a dream is merely a fleeting vision, so should you regard this world to be;

There is nothing truly real within it, O Nanak, except for the Lord God.

Lord Rama departed, and Ravana departed—he who commanded a vast retinue;

Nanak says: Nothing here is permanent; this world is transient, like a dream.

Just as a sunbeam merges back into the sun, and water returns to water,

So, too, does the individual light merge into the Supreme Light—and thus is the journey of life fulfilled.
