Shri Guru Ravidas Jayanti श्री गुरु रविदास जयंती




      जउ तुम गिरिवर तउ हम मोरा 
      जउ तुम चंद तउ हम भए है चकोरा 

      माधवे तुम न तोरहु तउ हम नही तोरहि 
      तुम सिउ तोरि कवन सिउ जोरहि 
                       (संत रविदास जी महाराज )

Jo Tum Girivar to hum bhaye Moraa 
Jo Tum Chand hum bhaye hain Chakoraa

Maadhvay Tum na torahu to hum nahin torahi
Tum syon tori  kavan syon jorahi 
                        " Sant Ravidas ji Maharaj "

                  English translation 

If you are the mighty mountain, then I am the peacock 
If you are the moon, then I become the chakora (Partridge - a bird that longs for the moon)

O Madhav, my Lord - Please do not forsake me, I too shall never forsake you,
If I break my bond with you, with whom else shall I unite?

     ਜਉ ਤੁਮ ਗਿਰਿਵਰ ਤਉ ਹਮ ਮੋਰਾ 
     ਜਉ ਤੁਮ ਚੰਦ ਤਉ ਹਮ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਚਕੋਰਾ 

     ਮਾਧਵੇ ਤੁਮ ਨ ਤੋਰਹੁ ਤਉ ਹਮ ਨਹੀ ਤੋਰਹਿ 
     ਤੁਮ ਸਿਉ ਤੋਰਿ ਕਵਨ ਸਿਉ ਜੋਰਹਿ

    3. Dnk ji! One of the names of Shri Krishna is also Girivar. Since there is always a peacock feather in His crown, Guru Ravidas ji has aptly added the metaphor of peacock. 🙏🏽
